Cassie’s POV
I woke up to the faint sound of television in the living room. I went out of the room and saw Blake watching TV.
“Hey.” I said.
“Hi. How are you?”
“Feeling better and hungry.”
“You sure? What do you want to eat?”
“I’m sure I’m better, and I want pizza.”
“I’ll call Yellow Cab.”
While Blake is calling Yellow Cab, I went to the bathroom to freshen up. I saw myself in the mirror. Red puffy eyes, swollen nose, and bird nest hair were the things I’ve noticed. What Jethro did to me was painful but I am a strong woman. I will not let him or any other man for that matter hurt me anymore. I decided to have a quick shower instead. I feel refreshed once I’ve showered. I wore a tank top shirt and shorts. When I got out of my room, pizza was already on the table. Blake was already seated and holding a slice.
“Do you want me to stay for the night?”
“Blake, I’m okay. Stop worrying about me. I want to go to Tagaytay though. Stay there for a week maybe.”
“Can I come?”
“If Aubrey wouldn’t mind.”
“I'll let her know.” Blake dialed Aubrey’s number but she didn’t pick up. He decided to text her instead.
“I’ll go home tonight to pack. What time would you like me to pick you up?”
“Let’s sleep early tonight. I want to leave at 5AM tomorrow so that we couldn’t get caught by the traffic.”
“Sure. I’ll be here before 5.”
After we’ve eaten and Blake helped me with the dishes, he decided to leave. I was left on my own again. I don't like to think of Jethro anymore. I want to forget him. I don’t know how but I’ll try. Feeling tired of today’s incident, I slept easily.
****
We left my place at 5 in the morning. Blake and I stopped by Mc Café to grab a coffee. We reached Tagaytay at 7. We’ve decided to have a buffet breakfast at Bag of Beans. For someone who was broken hearted, I sure have a huge appetite. Blake didn’t speak much the whole trip until breakfast.
“Are you okay?” I asked Blake after breakfast.
“I was thinking of Aubrey.”
“Why? Haven’t you talked to her yet?”
“I did. She called me last night but I feel like something is not right.”
“Not right how? Do you think she’s in trouble?”
“No. She seems fine. But... never mind. Maybe I am just being paranoid. I know I should trust her. Aubrey will not do something that will jeopardize our relationship.”
“Why don’t you follow her?”
“If I leave, you’ll be alone.”
“Blake, I’m a big girl. You should be with Aubrey this summer. Promise, I’ll take care of myself.”
“You sure?”
“Definitely.”
Blake helped me to look for a hotel first before he leaves. Since I didn’t have a reservation, it was difficult for us to book a hotel. Fortunately, I found one, not a regular room though but a suite, a honeymoon suite in fact.
As soon as I saw the bed, all I wanted to do was sleep.
“Are you sure you’re okay here?”
“Yup. Kiss Aubrey for me, okay?”
“Will do. Bye Cassie.”
“Bye Blakey. Take care.” I locked the door and began to unpack. I went to the bathroom and decided to soak in the tub for a bubble bath. Being in the bathtub was so relaxing. I closed my eyes and savour the lavender scent of the candles lit in the bathroom. I am not sure how long I was in the bathroom when I heard my phone ringing. I left it on the dresser in the bedroom. Wrapping myself with a white robe, I answered my phone.
“Blake? Are you okay?”
“Yeah. Mmm... I’m here outside your suite. “
“What? Wait…” Hurriedly, I opened the door.
“What happened? Why did you come back?”
“Uhmm Cass, I think it’s better if you get dressed first.”
Cassie looked down at herself. Her robe was loosely tied, showing some parts of her breast.
“Oh shoot. Just wait here.”
Feeling embarrassed, Cassie went back to the bathroom and finished her bath. Getting dressed is easy since the closet was just outside the bathroom with a divider separating the closet/bathroom from the bedroom where Blake stayed. Once she got dressed, she asked Blake why he returned. It turns out that when Blake couldn't reach Aubrey’s phone, he just texted Aubrey telling her that he will follow her in Baguio. After a few minutes, Aubrey called Blake to say that she didn’t want him to be in Baguio and advised him to stay with me in Tagaytay because apparently, I need Blake more than she needs him. And so, feeling pissed, Blake turned his car around and went back to the hotel.
“There is just one problem.” Blake added.
“What is it?”
“There is no other room available.”
“What’s the problem? You, staying here with me, is definitely not a problem.”
