Blake’s POV

“There is just one problem.” I added.

 “What is it?”

“There is no other room available.”

“What’s the problem?  You, staying here with me, is definitely not a problem.” Cassie said.

“I’ll just get my bag in the car.”  I went out of the room and decided to take a walk.

How am I going to tell Cassie that us being in the same room, with her near me, is a huge problem?

When she asked me what my problem was, I lied.   I told her it was about Aubrey, but the truth is it was all because of her.  I don’t know when and how it started… All I know is when I saw her that night - the night when we went to the bar - I didn’t see her like a sister or a friend anymore.  All I saw was a lady who awakened everything inside me.  The desire I have for her is different from what I felt for Aubrey and it scares the hell out of me.  When I saw her with Jethro, I couldn’t help but feel jealous which made me drown myself with alcohol that night.  When she cried because of him, I want to tell her not to waste her tears because there was someone who really cares for her - that I do care about her… a lot. I wanted to take away all her pain.  I wanted to promise her I will take care of her, but I couldn’t.  I am her bestfriend’s boyfriend.  I wasn’t supposed to make any promises to her… I should only make promises to Aubrey.

Aubrey, being away, did not help either, that’s why when Cassie suggested me to follow Aubrey to Baguio, I instantly agreed.  I don’t want to cheat on Aubrey… I don’t want to ruin Cassie and I’s friendship.  She’s a great friend, not only to Aubrey but to me as well.  She was always there for us whenever we needed her.  Her smile is enough to cheer me up whenever I was down.  She may be reserved at times, especially about bringing up her past, but most of the time, she was so carefree.  She gets mad at me if I’ve done something wrong but give her a day and she’ll forget the reason why she got angry in the first place.  She’s beautiful, inside and out - and surprisingly, she didn’t give a single damn about it.

I know joining her in this vacation is not a smart move, but I want to be with her – even just for the summer.  After this, we’ll go on separate ways... me with Aubrey, and she with Jethro perhaps.  As I look at the sunset, I come up with a decision that I know I will regret later…  In this vacation, no Aubrey or Jethro will exist.  Only Cassie and I…  I will show her how special she is to me.  I will let her know I care a lot.  With my bag in hand, I happily returned to Cassie in our hotel room.

The door was opened revealing a pouting Cassie.

“Where have you been?  I thought you’re just going to get your bag in the car.  I was waiting for you.”

“I just took a walk to think.”

 “Is it Aubrey?”

“No.  I’ll let you know some other time.”

 “Promise?”

 “Yeah.”

 “Mmm, Blake… I’m hungry.”

“As usual.  Come on let’s eat.”

 “I’m not properly dressed.”

“You looked alright.”  Liar! Of course she did not just look alright.  She looked lovely even with a tank top, shorts, and flip flops.  We went to the hotel’s cafeteria to eat.

“Where do you want to go tomorrow?” I asked.

“Let’s try the zipline.”  she said excitedly.

“I thought you are afraid of heights?”

“That was before.  I want to conquer my fears, Blake. I don’t want to be weak anymore.”

“You are not weak Cass… you’re the strongest girl that I’ve ever met.”

We both become silent after that.

“Why don’t we go to Sky Ranch tonight, and ride the ferris wheel?  Let’s see how brave you really are.”

“Sure.” Cassie became her excited self once again.
