Is It Okay if I Call You Mine? (formerly Complicated)

Blake's POV

"I love you, Blake. I'm still in love with you." Cassie said to me before she faded in the dark. My head was spinning... I wanted to run after her, but she's nowhere in sight... and then I felt the earth shaking....

"Blake... Blake!" I felt Jethro shaking my shoulder, waking me from my dream.

I opened my eyes and saw sympathy and worry in his eyes.

"What the hell, man? It's been three weeks since she'd left. Here you are at 7 in the evening, dreaming about Cassie. You've been drinking since God knows when. You have to move on. Cassie wouldn't want to see you like this."

"I don't know, Jethro... I'm beginning to lose hope. The private investigators we hired reported the same every day. They still haven't seen her. I'm thinking that she really didn't want me to find her, and it hurts a lot. She shouldn't have left me. We should have talked about this. I couldn't help but think that maybe she doesn't love me at all. I think I should give up looking for her."

"Come on, man, you know that is not true. Cassie loved you more than anything. I still believe that she has a good reason why she chose to walk away from you."

"I don't know what to believe anymore. Maybe you are the one she truly loved... I was just a rebound for her because she knew you couldn't love her back."

"Do you hear yourself right now, Blake? I suggest you hit the shower first to clear your head. If you still feel that way, you can talk to me about it. I'll wait for you in the game room." Jethro said to me, irritated.

I took a shower and then went to talk to Jethro in the game room. I found him holding a beer. I took another beer from the table and sat across him.

"Do you still wanna talk? Do you still believe that Cassie doesn't love you?" Jethro asked me.

"I don't know what to believe anymore."

"Did Cassie tell you that I once told her I love her?"

I was surprised. I looked at Jethro and shook my head.

"I did. The day I took her home from Tagaytay.  And then that was the time she told me that loving is different from falling in love...that falling in love makes you feel..."

"complete." I added.

"Exactly. She told me that she was hurt because she thought we're friends and I kinda betray our friendship for treating her just like one of the sluts I've dated but she never told me she loved me. Because to be honest, if she just said that she had feelings for me I was willing to give us a try."

I narrowed my eyes at Jethro...

"Relax.. that was before I met Dianne... One more thing... I promised Cassie I'm not going to tell you this but I want to take away all your doubts... When you were in South Korea, she was verbally harassed by people who sympathized with Aubrey. They call them names, but she didn't try to defend herself. She said that everything they said was true. She's willing to take all the blame and made me promise not to tell you about it because she didn't want you to worry." Jethro added.

"If you're still not convinced how much she loves you, remember that she gave up our four years of friendship because of you." Aubrey said out of nowhere.

"What are you doing here?! Eavesdropping and snooping to somebody's business are your new- found hobby now?!" I was so angry with Aubrey. She was the reason why Cassie left. If looks can kill, Aubrey is already lying dead by now.

"I thought were going to talk. I waited for you but you did not come."

"I told you Aubrey, I know that I am not the father of your child, and even if I am, I still wouldn't marry you. I love Cassie. She's the only one I want to marry."

"I know.... That's why I'm here to ask for forgiveness. I know I was the reason why Cassie left. I talked her out of it. She didn't want to leave you but I said something that made her change her mind."

"You know Aubrey... the only reason why I am not strangling you right now is because you are pregnant. You're so selfish... How can you do this to her? I thought she was your best friend. And don't tell me that she was the one who first ruined your friendship by falling in love with me... You were the first one who cheated."

"What do you mean?"

"I admit I found out I have feelings for Cassie that summer in Tagaytay. We've kissed once... but Cassie was so sorry for it. I want to talk about it but she didn't want to. Your friendship is more important for her. Remember how she used to distance herself from us after that summer? I was the one who came to her. You and I were not together anymore when Cassie and I dated. Unlike you Aubrey..."

"Blake...."

"I know everything Aubrey... You were with Max last summer. Don't you know that Max and I are cousins? It so happened that my uncle, his father, told me that he was also in Baguio at the time you were in there. Not to mention the times I caught you whispering to each other. I didn't bother to confront you about it because there's no use. I was already in love with someone else. What happened between you and Max is your business, not mine."

"I'm sorry." Aubrey cried. "I'm so sorry Blake."

"If you're sorry for cheating on me, you're already forgiven but if you're sorry because you make Cassie leave, I can't forgive you... not until I found her."

"If I help you find her, are you going to forgive me?"

"And how do you plan on finding her?" Jethro couldn't help but to butt in.

Aubrey smiled and became her old self once again. "Simple... by giving your investigator her name."

"What?! This is not the right time to play games Aubrey." I was so irritated... "We are not stupid not to give her name to the investigator."

"But you're stupid enough not to realize that is not Cassie's real name." she said sarcastically.

"What do you mean? If this is just one of your tricks, I warn you. I will not be patient this time." I said louder.

"All of you were assuming that the reason why I was so angry with Cassie was because I couldn't accept the fact that you chose a nobody like her over me. But it wasn't true. The reason I was angry was because the only thing that made my life better than her was me having a serious relationship with you. Unlike her, the only man she dreamt about, who is Jethro, was not giving her any attention. And then you fell in love with her. She now got everything I wanted."

"Can you please cut the crap and get straight to the point!" I said losing my patience.

"Her name is not Cassandra Marie Rivera. Her name is Cassandra Ysabelle Rivera Sanvictores. If you're wondering how she'd manage to pull that off, especially in school... it was because Cassie was not a nobody. She is an heiress of the owner of one of the grandest hotel and resorts in Cebu, Resort de Playa Ysabelle. I don't know why she didn't tell you that Blake. Whatever her reason is, I believe she didn't mean to deceive you or anything. Maybe she's just waiting for the right time to tell you."

"I don't care if she lied to me... As long as I find her and can convince her to be with me again. I am willing to leave the past behind us."

"What are you waiting for, man?" Jethro said. "Book a flight to Cebu now. We're getting Cassie back."

"Thank you, Aubrey." I was so happy. I was willing to forgive her already because of what she did. "And if I were you, I'll accept Max's marriage proposal. That boy has been in love with you since the day I introduced you to each other." I added.

Aubrey looked at me questioningly.

"I told you, I'm not stupid..." I smirked and went to the bedroom to pack the things I'm going to bring to Cebu. I will get Cassie back no matter what.
