Sure it was dark, but he could still see Damian who was only a foot or two away from him. How had he not heard? Was he deaf? Was he insensitive?

Jon's heart weighed with sadness when he realized that it wasn't that he was deaf or insensitive, rather that Damian was a silent crier.

"Oh god," Jon whispered. "You're... you're crying..." Damian glanced at his friend before looking away, starting to blink rapidly and wipe his eyes.

"M-My apologies, I can m-make it s-stop I-I swear!" Damian panicked. He tried hard to stop the tears but if anything they just started running harder.

"O-oh no, I'm sorry J-Jon, I can s-stop!"

"Damian, that's enough." Jon said sternly. Damian's breathing picked up as he got the wrong message from Jon's words. Especially as Jon reached forward, causing Damian to flinch in fear, avoiding Jon's hand.

"I'm t-trying, th-they'll stop, I s-swear," He whispered, as his feeling of terrified anxiety rose in his chest, Jon kept trying to reach forward to hug or hold Damian, but Damian couldn't understand. He took it a sign of danger and kept flinching away from Jon.

"Oh no," Damian muttered. He started to stand. "I sh-should go, god w-why won't they s-stop!" He began walking away across the building top. Jon followed after him.

"Damian!" Jon exclaimed, still confused. Damian was trying to wipe his eyes, momentarily blinding himself so he didn't see the edge.

"Hey, hey! DAMAIN!" Jon shouted. Damian regained his vision and slipped.

Damian gasped loudly in fright. Jon dashed forward, grabbing onto a pole behind him and wrapping his arm around Damian's waist.

He breathed a sigh of relief having caught Damian who was gripped the front of Jon's shirt in his fists, hanging on like a lifeline.

They stared at each other for a moment, Jon memorizing the tear trails that streamed down Damian's cheeks.

Jon slowly pulled them towards safety by gripping the pole. He kept his arm around Damian's waist, even when the other tried pulling away in fright.

It hurt Jon to see Damian scared of him. He wasn't sure why, but nothing could mask the fear in Damian's eyes as he looked away from Jon, the tears still falling.

He kept Damian sitting between his legs who was hiccuping and covering his mouth to hide the occasion loud sob and his whimpers.

He was terrified Jon was going to do something. He hadn't been allowed to cry back at the League. Doing so earned him a beating from his grandfather as his mother begged him to stop but to no avail.

Since that had happened, he'd started crying only in private and trained himself to cry silently so no one could tell, even if they were right beside him.

He still had slipped up multiple more times at the League which resulted in the same punishment. So when he arrived in Gotham and started his new life, he made sure no one would ever see him cry. He'd stuck to it well and since he left the league, no one had ever seen him cry and he had planned on keeping it that way, scared of the consequences.

Damian felt small and vulnerable as he cried before Jon. Yet, his confusion tugged at him. He looked up at Jon slowly, still cowering away slightly.

"W-why aren't you b-beating m-me?" Damian asked, his voice cracking. Jon did a double take.

"B-beating you?" He repeated. Damian nodded. "Oh god, Damian I would never do that!"

"B-But I'm n-not allowed t-to cry..." Damian insisted.

"No Damian, you are allowed to cry, no one is going to beat you for it, oh god, is this why you've never cried?" Jon asked softly, feeling his eyes start to well up.

"O-only in p-private." Damian whispered. "E-even th-then I make s-sure it's s-silent,"

Jon sat staring at Damian, lips parting but not a having a clue as to what to say. Tears slipped down his cheeks.

Damian noticed. "Oh! O-oh, my apologies!" He reached forward and cupped Jon's cheeks, wiping the other's tears with the pad of his thumb.

Jon smiled.

"W-why are you smiling?" Damian asked. Jon chuckled softly. He grasped Damian's wrists, slowly pulling Damian's hands from his face.

"Because, th-this what I w-want to do for you, but I don't want to t-trigger you." Jon said. Damian looked at him in confusion.

"I'm only going to hold your face, I'm not going to hit you, or hurt you in any way. You're always safe with me Damian." Jon assured his smaller friend.

He carefully began reaching his hand up to Damian's cheek. Damian did his best to control his breathing as he watched Jon's hand get closer to him.

"I won't hurt you..." Jon cooed. "You're safe... safe with me..."

Jon was able to cup Damian's cheek. Upon seeing Damian not flinch, he slowly raised his other hand and cupped Damian's other cheek.

Once his nerves calmed a bit, Damian relaxed into Jon's touch, letting the other wipe away his tears and caress his cheeks.

This was foreign for him. The only person who'd ever held his face with the gentleness and love that Jon did, had been Talia. He closed his eyes, letting Jon caress his cheeks soothingly.

His heart fluttered but in a good way, Jon's hands were soft and comforting against his damp cheeks.

He bit his lip to muffle a noise of comfort, he felt so safe in Jon's presence, especially as the taller muttered a few sweet nothings here and there.

Damian opened his eyes as he felt himself being slowly moved until his found his head pressed against Jon's chest, curled up between the other's legs.

He listened to Jon's heartbeat, letting his eyes close again as Jon stroked through Damian's hair.

Jon pressed a lingering kiss to the Arabic boy's temple as he drifted off. Jon smiled and sat there for a bit longer.

Once he was sure Damian was out, he picked up the smaller and flew him back to Wayne Manor. He dressed both himself and Damian for bed before laying down, hugging Damian tightly to his chest.

Angst.

That awkward moment when you realize you have no friends because your school friends are school friends and the guy who you thought was your friend stopped talking to you because you don't want to date him and you're so called close friends leave you out and probably are closer with each other than with you and now you're conflicted between having a crush on two girls one who you don't stand a chance with because she's probably straight and probably of your league the other who you've never even met irl and is also most likely out of your league so you cope by secretly writing because you're not supposed to have this damn app in the first place but you do it because fandoms, DC and anime is the only thing you use to cope and you're running off of a monster energy withdrawal and shitty sleeps.

Life is fine.
