"I gave you your last chance Damian," Bruce said, arms crossed over his chest as he looked down at his son who sat tense on the bench below him. "I warned you, I don't understand why you can't listen." He said gruffly. Damian gripped the edge of the bench, fists going white. "I know you have your own way of doing things, and I also know you like to do it that way, but that's not how this works." Bruce said firmly.
Damian looked up at his father, frustration flaring up inside him and it showed in his eyes. Bruce just didn't seem to get it. He'd been trained one way all his life, never needing to adapt it. Damian on the other hand, had trained one way for all his life before suddenly he had to change it. "Father, you have to understand that this is clearly how I'll always be! I do try to change and I believe I've adapted and grown more accustomed to your ways-!" He attempted to defend himself.
"Damian, we've been over this-,"
"Yes exactly father!" Damian exclaimed, standing up. "We've been over this and I don't understand why you can't accept that this is how I am." He said, almost sounding helpless. Bruce pursed his lips. "I do what I can and I get the job done, can't you give me credit for that? So what if those people get hurt? They're bad people, father-!"
"Damian." Bruce stopped him with a sharp voice. "I'm not going to have this conversation again, you nearly killed those people today-!"
"I saved the goddamned mayor father-"
"Don't interrupt me." Bruce raised his voice slightly, quieting Damian briefly. "And don't cuss at me either. While I admit it's a job done, you and I both know there were easier ways to take those people down without so many casualties, don't we Damian?" He asked. Damian looked to the floor, hands once again clenching into fists. "Damian,"
"Yes father, I know there were." He agreed before looking back up.
"I'm glad we agree. Now go get some rest and think over your situation. In the morning I want a report of what you should've done instead." Bruce said, before walking past Damian to exit the cave.
Damain crossed his arms and blew out a frustrated breath. "You never listen to me." He muttered. Bruce paused.
"What was that Damian?" He asked, looking over his shoulder. Normally Damian would bite his tongue and say it was nothing, but he was fed up now.
"I said you never listen to me." He stated, glaring hard at his father. Bruce turned completely around and Damian suddenly started to feel challenged, cornered even. It made his heart speed up just a little. "I just attempted to civilly explain myself but once again you didn't listen." He snapped, something beyond frustration burned inside him now, it was more like anger. Bruce's brow furrowed.
"I stopped you because I could tell you're getting angry. You're doing it now even and I don't want this to become another fight." He said, keeping his calm, something he'd had to further work on since Damian arrived.
"Don't tell me what I am father," Damian hissed. "You should know I hate it, just as much as I hate being patronized, which is exactly what you're doing." Bruce felt his temper rise.
"I suggest you shut your mouth and be quiet Damian before you go and accuse me of things. I am your father and I am merely trying to prevent a fight, something you always seem to be etching for, why is that?" Bruce asked, trying to control his temper. Damian growled,
"I do not itch for fights or search them out-!"
"Yes you do Damian! I am your father and I know you-!"
