It had been just over a week since Y/N had been swung into the life of the avengers team and she was finally finding her feet.
Combat training sessions with Nat were beginning to be less tiring and Y/N was finding herself lasting longer during their fights. She had yet to start weapons training due to Nat wanting to ease her into it.
Steve was now taking Y/N out for daily runs which would usually end up with him lapping her several times without breaking a sweat.
"I swear to god Steve if you say that you are on my left once more I am pushing you into that pond over there" she shouted whilst out of breathe. Steve chuckled to himself. He knew she was getting fitter when he wasn't passing her as much as the previous day. She still had a long way to go though. The team were called out on two more missions during the week which all except Bruce were taken out on. Bruce was working on a suppressor bracelet for Y/N to help with her abilities should they ever need to control them.
They hadn't pushed her too far with her ability training this week, especially since she passed out so quickly the last time. So Bruce and Y/N spent a few days looking over her test results to see how much of each element she can hold.
"I reckon you can produce more than just the three" Bruce said whilst pacing back and forth by his research table.
"I've only ever been able to produce the three. I doubt I can do anything else." Y/N wasn't sure if she wanted to have three elements let alone any more.
"Just hear me out. You can produce fire, water and earth quakes , yes? But there's more than just those elements. You have wind, ice, light, dark, can you see where I am going with this?" When Bruce was having one of his thinking moments his eyes would widen and a vein would appear on his forehead. The vain was very much alive in this situation.
"Bruce I get what you're saying but I can't control the three I have. Why look for another and potentially more dangerous element?" Y/N could feel her heart racing.
"I know I know it's crazy but imagine if you could control all of them. You'd be more powerful than... well , most of us. Even Loki." Bruce's eyes widened but with fear this time. You could tell his brief encounters that he had with Loki weren't pleasant. Much like Y/N's.
"I'm not as strong as Loki. He's a god and I'm just.... well. A mortal" Y/N wandered over to the work bench to take a sip of her tea. Tony flung the door open, making his usual grand entrance.
"Hows my two favourite nerds doing?"
"We are fine, Tony I have the suppressor. I think we are good to go." Bruce handed the small silver bangle over to Tony who began to inspect it.
"Oh Bruce you brought me Jewellery, how kind" Tony teased. "Let's try it out shall we" Tony clipped the bangle to Y/N's left wrist. She held her wrist out in front of her to inspect it. "Am I supposed to feel different?" She asked, looking up at Bruce and Tony.
"Try using your powers" Bruce instructed.
Y/N held her hand out in front of her, palm facing upwards and tried to conjure a flame. A small spark appeared and a grape sized flame sat gracefully on her hand.
"Why is it so small?" She asked. "It's a suppressor, it's not to stop your magic it's to reduce its impact. If we start training you to use it and you can harness and control it whilst it is small then the better skilled you will be when you have your full powers" Tony explained. The team gathered for lunch in the kitchen. Loki even decided to make an appearance himself today which was unlike him.
"So who's training Y/N to use her powers? We aren't exactly blessed with those gifts" Nat and Clint asked.
"My dear brother could show her. He is after all a powerful god with the ability to conjure magic." Thor seemed to think this idea was a good one.
Immediately you could see the teams eyes dart back and forth between each other. Some unsure, some concerned and some were definitely against the idea. Y/N included.
"There's no way I'm taking that bracelet off of his wrist. He's too dangerous" Tony protested.
"I agree Tony but we don't have much choice" Bruce replied.
"We can sit in on the training to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid" Nat and Steve spoke up.
Y/N looked over towards Loki who was staring at her. He was ... smiling.
"I would be happy to show Miss Y/N a trick or two" he said.
Y/N wasn't sure what to say. If she said no, she couldn't exactly say it was because Loki had threatened her last week after attacking her for no reason. But equally she didn't want to be near him let alone in the same room as him.
"I...I don't mind. As long as there's others around in case I... I pass out" Y/N didn't know where to look at this point. Tony stared at her and could sense her nerves.Tony sighed. "Fine we will start tomorrow but both of you are wearing the suppressors to start with and you will have at least two of us in the room with you. Am I clear ?" This was mostly aimed at Loki but Y/N could tell that he was talking to her too to reassure her that she would be safe.
"Fine by me" Loki chuckled whilst leaving his seat to return to his room.*Y/N POV*
I've tried my best this last week to stay away from Loki. Now I will be stuck in a room with him every day for training. Fun.
*Loki POV*
How exciting. The mortal and I might get to finish our little fight after all.
