The Element - Loki / Avengers x Reader

"You need to watch your tone with me Loki" fury snapped as he warned Loki for a second time about his attitude.
The three were discussing the events of their capture when things began to get heated.
"Why do you need to know if she is strong enough to use her powers Fury" Loki snapped
"That's classified" he replied
"That's a load of crap and you know it. Stop lying" he roared
Fury's mouth twitched and grumbled
"We need to use Y/N as bait to lure out Zemo and his crew" fury stared and Y/N froze in fear.
"You are doing no such things , she isn't.." Loki trailed off but was interrupted by fury thundering in response
"I give the orders Loki not you. If I tell her she goes then she god damn will go am I clear?"
At this point Tony had become wound up from eavesdropping and came storming through the door
"Director you are not sending her out there. Especially back to the person who just held her against her will and tortured her for weeks on end. She's not going" he argued.
The three continued to argue and hadn't notice that Y/N had left the room.
"Where'd she go?" Tony proceeded to looked around the room, including under the desk.
"She's probably having a panic attack somewhere" Loki growled and glared at fury.
"She left after you walked in Tony. Anyway. Think about what I have said. I want her trained up to use that new element of hers within the next two weeks. That's an order" with that fury dropped the call and the two boys were left in silence.
Loki sighed "Tony..." he trailed off
"I know. You're close with her Loki. I trust that you can change her mind." Tony nodded and walked away.

*Y/N POV*

breathe....Y/N breathe.... I can't breathe.

I ran out of that meeting room like my life depended on it.
I can't do this. I can't face Zemo again. I can't do it.

I ran out of the meeting room and just kept going. I knew I didn't have the mental strength nor the physical strength to leave the building so instead I ran to the roof. The roof had a great view of the city and it was far enough away from everyone for me to sit and breathe and calm down.

*normal POV*

Loki and Tony began frantically looking around for Y/N.
"What's wrong?" Nat asked with Clint and Steve looking at them perplexed.
"Y/N ran out of the meeting with fury. We just want to make sure she's okay" Loki said whilst poking his head through the door into the library.
"Wait why did she leave? What happened?" Nat stood up and crossed her arms
"Fury that's what happened. He told her that she's gotta use her powers to draw Zemo out of hiding. She's basically bait" Tony grumbled.
Nat furrowed her brows , as did the others.
"No not happening" Steve snapped
"We haven't got that as an option Steve. It's directors orders. Where the hell is she" Tony was fearing that she had left the building.
"Jarvis have you got any security foo..." Tony was stopped when Jarvis promptly replied.
"She's on the roof sir"
Tony and the team began walking to the elevator to go to the roof
"Stop. I think it's best if I go and check on her alone. The last thing she needs is to be bombarded" Loki sighed, the team reluctantly agree and nodded for him to go.

Y/N was sat on the ledge, dangling her legs over the side. Heights didn't bother her in the slightest. It didn't take away from the fact it was a stupid thing to do. Loki would be fuming.
And he was.

He stepped off the elevator and saw Y/N. He creeped up to her carefully and quietly and grabbed her arms, pulling her back.
"Ow! Loki ! What the hell get off of me !" She scrambled away, punching his arms.
"What are you doing!" Loki shouted.
"I was sat down ! Is that a problem!" She sarcastically replied.
Loki sighed "I'm sorry I thought you were going to do something stupid ..." he looked at her and she rolled her eyes. " don't roll your eyes at me." He grumbled.
"Loki I just wanted to get some air" she sighed and sat back down. Loki sat beside her.
"Are you okay?"
"Would you be?" She looked up at him holding back tears.
"I know this is not ideal Y/N. And I know you don't want to do it and I don't blame you but..." he was stopped when she stood up abruptly
"I'm not doing it Loki. I'll train and build up my strength but I'm not facing Zemo I can't... I can't do it... every time I think of him or hydra I get flashbacks and I ...I can't..." she started to have another panic attack. She crouched down on the floor hyperventilating and grabbed her knees.
"It's okay Y/N , it's okay just breathe. Come on" Loki sat down and held her, gently rocking with her and breathing with her.
"Loki I can't do it" she wailed.
"Shhhh it's okay" he tried not to tear up too. He could see how much fear she had and what it was doing to her.
"Come on , let's get you inside, it's freezing" he stood her up and guided her back into the building. Walking her down to the living area, she buried  her head in his chest, still trying to focus on her breathing. Loki looked up and saw the team who's heads perked up as they entered. He shook his head and signalled for them to leave which they did.
"Sit down. I'll get you a tea" he plonked her down on the chair and returned a few minutes later with a hot cup of tea. She held it in her shaky hands to warn them up.
"Calmed down a bit now?" He said , pushing a piece of hair out of her face and tucking it behind her ear. She nodded.
"Okay. Bruce has made a pair of gloves for you to wear. They'll stop the pain when you use your powers. We'll work on them this week. For you, not for Fury or anyone else. Okay?" He asked.
"Okay" she sighed and curled up against him and cuddled up with him. She was so tired from panicking she drifted off asleep.

Tony and Bruce came back in and looked at Loki who pushed his finger to his lips to shush them. He put his thumb up to then to signal she was okay. They nodded and left.

"Here give these to Y/N to wear when she goes training. They'll stop her arms and hands from hurting when she uses her powers" Bruce said, handing over the black elbow length gloves to Tony.
"I hate that she has to do this. Go out and face that sick twisted pathetic excuse of a man" Tony scrunched his nose and fists.
"She doesn't have to go alone Tony. We can all go with her. Together. As a team" he said patting him on the shoulder and leaving.

And that's what they'll do. They will do it together. As a team. As a family.
