The Element - Loki / Avengers x Reader

"How many times am I going to have to tell you Thor? Stop.eating.my.pop tarts!" Clint was squared up to Thor in the kitchen. This was the third argument this week about pop tarts going missing.

"Hands off me you tiny mortal or you will feel the wrath of a god and Mjolnir!" Thor boomed.

"Guys come on just order two boxes next time we get food in" Bruce was rubbing his head.

It had been a week and a half since Y/N and Loki had been kidnapped and the team were no closer to finding them. Tony and Director Fury, along with his team of Shield agents were having their third meeting of the day. It was only 11am.

"Tony you need to calm down" Fury ordered. "My team have been on the ground and in the air looking 24/7 , it's just going to take time"

"Calm down? Oh well I do apologise Director Fury, how dare I have such an unreasonable attitude." Tony was tired. He hadn't slept properly since it happened and when he did it was only because Pepper peeled him away from his desk and made him go to bed.

"Sir we are doing everything we can. I've enlisted 6 more of our best agents who are working around the clock for any movements in several different Hydra bases. There's a base in Miami that we have eyes on at the moment. There's been a lot of activity there." Agent Barns replied.

"Thank you agent. I'm sorry I'm just exhausted. We have to find them. I can't even imagine.... I don't know how they..." Tony began to stutter.

Fury raised his hand "it's fine Tony. We'll leave it there for today. Now go get some sleep. That's an order"
The call finish and Tony sighed, resting his head in his hands.

"You need to sleep" Pepper called over from the doorway.
"That's what it's called. I was beginning to forget" even whilst mentally drained Tony could still make a sassy comment.
Pepper chuckled. "Take the rest of the day off Tony. You've not stopped. Recharge your batteries" she walked over and hugged him.
"I can't Pep. I need to find them" he sighed.

"I know Tony. I know. At least come up stairs and have some lunch. See the rest of the team. They could do with some of your pep talks right now. They're hurting too" Tony knew pepper was right. He hated that about her. She was always so reasonable and could always convince him to do what was best when he so desperately wanted to remain stubborn.
"Fine. But if I hear Thor and Clint yell one more time about the damn Pop tarts I'm switching them both over to bran flakes"
The pair laughed and headed back up stairs to the main living area.

Steve and Nat were busy blowing off steam in the training rooms. They were both exhausted from the weeks events and were still completing missions for Fury whilst Tony stayed in his office.

Bruce remained in his lab most days. Mostly to stay away from a bickering Clint and Thor but also because he was trying to find a way with Jarvis to re activate Loki and Y/N's tracking devices. He thought if a spark cut the power to begin with , a spark could reignite it or at least a system re boot.

"Morning boys" Pepper called over to Clint and Thor who were sat in front of the tv watching the news.
"Hey Pepper. Tony! Hey ! How're you?" Clint looked up. He was surprised to see Tony and shocked to see how exhausted he looked.
"Hey. Do you guys want Chinese for lunch? I'll order some in" Tony walked into the kitchen, Pepper following close behind.
"Sounds good to me! I could eat a horse" Thor smiled.

Nat and Steve hopped off the elevator and entered the living room. Both had been training most of the morning, but despite this neither looked like they had broken a sweat.
"Hey Cap, Nat. I'm ordering Chinese, usual order?" Tony was making himself and Pepper a coffee.
"Hey! Yeah sounds good" Steve was surprised to see Tony.
"Count me in" Nat replied.
The air was awkward. No one wanted to pry information out of Tony but equally no one wanted to piss him off either. They had heard his daily shouting matches with Fury and the crashes and thuds of his tools in his workshop.
