The Element - Loki / Avengers x Reader

Y/N was still shaking. Both with anger and sadness. The people she had spent the last few weeks with, the people she was starting to consider her family and her new start had lied to her already. She felt isolated. Again.

*Tony's POV*

She was afraid, angry, sad and confused. I didn't blame her. She had been lied to her whole life. She had endured crappy foster families, unstable homes and lord knows what else. In addition to that she still remains a high target for hydra.

I explained to her what happened the night her parents died including the run up to it. She deserved to know what her father was like to her and her mother. He was unkind and evil.

She stared at the wall blankly. Tears filled her eyes, her face whitened and her hands lay flat on her knees.

"But why don't I remember?" She quietly asked

This was the part I didn't want to talk about. But I had to.

"Director Fury had been keeping a close eye on you since you were born. Your mother was an ex shield agent and came into contact with some chemicals and various formulas whilst in the lab one day which is how you were born with your powers. It was accidental but we were all pleased." I paused.
"Tony answer my question" she pleaded.

"Fury felt that you were too young to know about what had happened. He didn't want you to live with the guilt or risk further injury to yourself or others. He decided it was best that shield altered your memories to protect you." Tears began to fall.
"So.... so that's it? You did all this to protect other people from me? A monster?" She was crying heavily now.
"No Y/N no! They did this to protect YOU. No 8 year old child should live with the vision of their parents dying in front of them. No one should"
" I can't believe this" she stood and started towards the door.
"Y/N wait. Please. Try and understand why we kept this from you. I'm sorry you found out this way. We were going to tell you , we were waiting for the right time"
"I need to be alone" she left my office, slamming the door behind her.

*Normal POV*

Y/N crossed back through the living quarters towards the elevator, tears still running down her cheeks.
"Y/N?" Steve looked up from his laptop
"Y/N wait" Nat stood to try and stop her.
"Leave her be, she needs some time" Tony sighed as he re entered the room.
Y/N left to go back to her room.

The team looked at Tony and at each other. They all knew her background and understood how much of a shock this must have been for her.

"Didn't go well I take it?" Bruce asked whilst eating his noodles.
"Nope" Tony replied. "If Loki had kept his mouth shut we wouldn't be..." Loki flew towards Tony.
"Wouldn't be what Tony? Wouldn't be feeling guilty for keeping such a thing? Don't you dare put this on me. You chose to keep this from her not me. She deserves to know!" Loki raised his voice.
"It was to be discussed on our terms Loki not yours" Tony growled. They were now face to face, edging closer and squaring up to one another.

"Guys stop. Arguing isn't going to solve this. We need to stay calm, for Y/N. She's hurting" Nat stood between the two dominant males.

"I know my brother meant no harm. I think he cares a lot for this young one" Thor smiled and raised his eyebrows at Loki.
This only annoyed Tony more. He felt protective over Y/N and much like a father protecting their daughter, he didn't want her close to someone with a past like his.

"I don't care Thor , I just know what it's like to be lied to" he spat.
Thor wasn't wrong though. Loki knew that he was feeling a sense of sympathy towards her. A feeling that he wanted to go to her and protect her and comfort her. A feeling he had only ever felt for his mother.

The team settled for the evening and were now sat by the fire watching television.
"Jarvis can you let Y/N know that the foods here" Tony asked whilst wrestling with Bruce for some chicken.
"Y/N is not in her room sir" Jarvis replied.
The team looked up at each other , then around the room.

"Well where is she?" Tony walked away from the kitchen towards his computer to look at the cameras in the building.
"Scanning the security footage sir" Jarvis replied. "She appears to have left the building."
Tony's heart sank.
"Shit, Nat, Clint and Steve you go around the back of the tower, Bruce, Thor , you're with me"

"Loki you stay" Thor said whilst grabbing Mjolnir.
"I could be of help" Loki tried to catchup with the team as they were walking out.
"No reindeer games you've done enough. You stay here in case she comes home" Tony was worried. Not because she had left the building after finding out about her parents , he knew that going for a walk was probably a good idea to calm down. But not when you're on hydras hit list and you're currently wearing a device stopping you from using your abilities to defend yourself.

The team split up in search for Y/N, they knew they had to act quickly before hydra knew of her whereabouts.

They had to find her.
