Chapter 19 - Weighted vests and protests

"Uh huh. Okay okay. Just be careful Y/N. He's known as the god of mischief and lies for a reason. He's not the nicest of people" Nat warned.
For she knew what the man was capable of as she had seen it though her own eyes. The day that she confronted him whilst he was in his cell. The day he threatened her. The day he led the New York attacks.
Granted they knew that he was being controlled after it had happened but the man had a history of deceit.
"I'm fine Nat. It's nothing" Y/N stood to go to her room to shower and change for her run with Steve upon his return.

A few hours later the boys returned from their mission unscathed and almost looking bored.
"What a waste of time that was" Clint grunted as he headed towards the kitchen to grab a drink.
"Does Fury see us as glorified babysitters now?" Steve moaned.
"I'm just glad it was an easy one. I've got stuff to do" Bruce stomped  back to his lab , pleased that the green guy had yet to see the day again.
"Someone's gotta give you guys an airing every now and then. You got fresh air , cleared the cobwebs away. Stop moaning" Tony rolled his eyes.

Y/N entered the room happy to see the boys home. "Ready when you are Steve!" She was eager to run and eager to get this weighted monstrosity off of her body as soon as possible.

"Great , let's go"

Steve and Y/N spent the next hour and a half running laps around Central Park. With the weighted vest and snow to trek through, Y/N was definitely getting the feeling of the military style training.
"On your left" Steve smiled as he lapped her for the third time.
"Shut.... up" she panted.
The pair took their final lap back to the tower by jogging home. Y/N's favourite part.

Y/N and steve stepped out of the elevator and into the living quarters. She dragged her feet towards the living room, launched the weighted vest on the floor and flopped face first into the chair with a groan.

"That's my spot" Tony stood over Y/N.
"Ughhh, Tony there's 8 other chairs. I'm not moving" a muffled voice replied.
"You've got your next training session with Loki in 5 minutes. Move now before I sit on you" Tony was hangry and wanted to sit and eat his bowl of nachos. The best way to describe Tony's interactions with people at times was almost child like.
Y/N grunted and peeled herself off of the chair towards the training rooms.

"You're late" Loki said with his back to Y/N.
"Sorry , Steve had me doing extra laps. I'm so tired" Y/N was definitely not in the mood for anymore training but she knew she had to keep pushing herself.

"Well hydra won't stop just because you're tired pet. Now let's get started" Loki was in one of his moods. He was normally sarcastic and cold when he was. She never knew the cause, it was like dealing with a hormonal teenager.

"No warm ups today. Just act on pure instinct okay? I'm not going to give you warnings. You won't have a chance to over think. Just do what feels right and don't let me pin you down okay?" Loki instructed.

Y/N nodded and the pair started circling and pacing opposite sides of the room , waiting for one to make their first move.

Loki lunged towards her , daggers drawn and began launching them without breaking a sweat.

Y/N dodged and used her fire element to burn them to a crisp.
He then charged towards her ready to fight, so she tried to flip him backwards using her quaking ability which worked perfectly. Loki landed in a heap on floor across the room.

"My turn" he grinned wickedly. Y/N hated when he did that because she knew he was fired up now and ready to make his move.
With that Loki split himself in 8 versions of himself, all of which were now running towards Y/N.
She remembered he had taught her to use the water element to send through the illusions so she could tell who was who , so she quickly threw several water balls towards them.
She identified which one was Loki and proceeded to conjure hundreds of water droplets , causing him to slip over.

She then created a large ball of water, bigger than a car and encased him in it whilst throwing him further away from her.

"Great, now try and combine fire and water Y/N" he shouted from across the room.
"What? What do you mean?" She shouted back and was confused at what he just asked.
"Start producing the flames in one hand , try throwing it but use the water element with it! It'll produce steam."
Y/N did what she was asked and she was suddenly seeing a cloud of steam in front of her. She could now no longer see Loki.

"Yes! This is perfect ! Now you're temporarily invisible!" Both Loki and Y/N were excited. Whilst it wasn't necessarily a new element, she had learnt to use two together to create something just as helpful.
Loki appeared through the mist and quickly began sparring with her again.
"Just because you've achieved something little one it doesn't mean I'm going to go easier on you!"

Both were now throwing punches, dodging daggers and pulling each other over. Loki pinned Y/N to the mat.
"What did I say? Don't let me pin you" he warned with his brows furrowed.
"I know I know. Sorry" Y/N was exhausted. The day had been full on and she was ready for bed.
"We'll leave it there for today then. Come on" Loki offered his hand for her to take and the pair headed back upstairs to meet the others.

"Oh good you're back. Fury has a mission for us all. We are heading out tomorrow morning" Tony said.
"Cool, who's staying behind with me this time?" Y/N asked, pulling a bottle of water from the fridge.
"No one. You're coming too" the team turned to look at Tony.
"I'm what now?" Y/N wasn't too sure whether to be excited or scared.
"Tony are you sure about this?" Bruce stuttered.
"Directors orders. We are all to go. It sounds pretty serious. There's reports of missing people just outside of town. He wants us there to guard the remaining hostages and bring in any suspects." The team nodded in approval to Tony.
"First mission kid!" Clint poked Y/N's side.
"It'll be great to have you with us!" Nat and Steve were pleased She was coming along. More so because they wanted Tony to see how much she had improved with her training. 

"Get to bed guys, it's going to be a long day tomorrow!" Tony yawned.

Y/N's first mission. She was now finally starting to feel like an Avenger.
