Chapter 36 - Take the bait

Step 1 complete. She thought to herself. She couldn't hear any of the team talking over to the comms which didn't worry her because she knew they would be talking amongst themselves and keeping an eye on her.

The alleyway was dark and dingy. Like the kind you see in horror movies. You know, the ones you shouldn't go down on your own!

As they carried on walking down. Two more men appeared. Then another two. Then 6.

Shit. She thought to herself.
This is more than they had anticipated.
She began to panic slightly knowing that they were now outnumbered. But also because she could see a familiar face amongst them all.

"Y/N! It's so nice to see you again. Did you miss me?" Zemo smiled.
"Like a hole in the head" she replied.
He chuckled "well we can always put one there for you"
Her skin crawled.
She knew that the team would show themselves any minute now.
"Zemo I'm not coming with you" she said
"You're not capable of making that decision I'm afraid Y/N"
"Not capable? What's that supposed to mean?" With that, one of the guards behind her shocked her. That familiar pain she felt when she was in their base. That pain she still felt late at night.
She screamed. Zemo laughed. This pissed her off.
She then started to laugh.
Zemo's smile faded. "What's so funny?"
She stood to her feet and opened her left palm which was glowing blue. The guards stepped back slightly and Zemo gulped.
"I see you've found your new power. Clever girl. Care to show me?" He cocked his head to the side. Almost trying to goad her.
She turned behind her and sent the guard that had just shocked her flying backwards back out towards the street.
The guards mouths dropped.
She looked back at Zemo who was smiling.
"You know this is the part where you thank me for helping you find this new power of yours. I can't wait to see how many people you kill with it"
Her smile faded. She never wanted to kill anyone. Killing is not something in her nature. But protecting herself and her family was her priority.
Zemo stepped forward as did the guards who all lit up their electric sticks. One guy lunged towards Y/N to try and pin her down but as he tried Tony appeared
"Back off buddy unless you want that stick shoved up your ass" he growled whilst shooting him backwards.
Nat and Steve appeared from the darkness of the alleyway behind Zemo , blocking one entrance, Clint and Thor doing the same at the other.
They were cornered.
Then, Loki appeared next to Y/N, landing a kiss on her cheek.
"You're doing wonderfully darling. Care to let us handle the rest?" He smiled.
She nodded in response but as she did guns started shooting and Zemo was now running towards Y/N.

The fight broke out and everyone was either hitting or punching someone.
Loki was attacking a guard and Y/N went for Zemo. She wanted to show him how powerful she was.
As she punched and kicked him and flew him backwards she was met with a searing pain to her side. She looked down to see blood pouring from her stomach. She then looked up to see Zemo still holding the gun. And smiling.
He had shot her.
"If I can't have you. No one can darling"his words were piercing.

Loki whipped his head around and could see her starting to fall to the floor.
"Y/N!" He shouted. The rest of the team looked to see what was unfolding. They quickly finished the guards off, tying them up so they couldn't escape and threw them in the back of the shield vans which had arrived to arrest them.
"Y/N stay awake. Look at me" Loki cradled her in his arms with tears in his eyes.
"Loki I'm okay , I'm okay" she smiled and looked at him trying to wipe his tears off of his cheeks.
"Tony! We need to get her back! Now!"
Tony ran to their side and grabbed Y/N in his arms , Loki reluctantly let go "Loki let me take her I can get her back quicker if I fly. Trust me"
So Loki did.

Tony flew back to the tower and rushed Y/N into tower and straight to the medical team who were waiting for her. He let them take her and he stood in the corridor helplessly waiting.

Back in the alleyway Zemo sat on the floor with Thor and Clint by his side guarding him.
Loki glared at him.
Nat looked over her shoulder and could see Loki stalking him.
"Steve I think Loki's about to blow. Get Zemo out of here now"
Steve nodded and walked over to Zemo. Loki suddenly lunged forward and grabbed Zemo by his throat
"If she dies... you die" he growled.
Zemo chuckled which infuriated Loki even more.
Thor and Steve were now trying to hold Loki back.
"Loki enough! Get back to the tower and be with Y/N" Thor shouted.
Fortunately his shout was enough to snap him out of his angry trance and he left. Teleporting himself back to the tower.

He met with Tony in the med bay corridor. "How is she? Where is she? I need to see her" he said whilst frantically looking. Tony sat up from his chair to try and guide Loki to sit but he kept fidgeting
"Loki....Loki! Just sit down. She's in theatre now. You need to..." Tony started but Loki stopped him and pinned him against the wall
"Dont.... don't tell me to calm down. I need her Tony. I can't lose her" tears started to form in his eyes and Tony held his shoulders "it's okay. I know. I can't lose her either. We won't lose her. She's strong Loki"

The pair nodded to each other, sighed and sat down on the chairs to wait for her to come out of surgery.

It was going to be another long night.
