(Takes place after Rise of Iron)
Gate glances over at Mazora. He looked...nervous. What? How could the great Warlock be nervous?

"You okay?" Gate looked up at Mazora.

Mazora took a second to actually process Gate's question. He quickly looked down at him. Gate was quite shorter than him.

"I'm fine. You?"

"Oh yeah, as always."

Mazora liked his apprentice's attitude. It made him happy.

Mazora and Gate were both dressed in nice tuxedos. Gate wore a blue jacket, white tie, and black shirt and slacks. Mazora chose to wear a full white suit, he was never the best at fashion. They were at the annual "Traveler's Banquet", which was a formal celebration of Guardians, Ghosts, and all gifts given to them by the Traveler. Most of the guests were Guardians considered "important" and members of the Vanguard.

"You ready?"

"Should I be ready for a party?" Gate jokes. Mazora doesn't laugh, instead he pushes open the large doors and they walk inside.

"It's not a party, it's a banquet: a formal occasion."

Almost immediately after walking in, both Gate and Mazora were greeted by Commander Zavala, who wore his armor instead of a suit, because that's just how he be.

"You look good, you two." Zavala shakes Mazora's hand and gives him a pat on the shoulder. He shakes Gate's hand too.

"This is...quite the banquet." Mazora replies. He scanned the large room. There was at least 200 people there, all dressed up and enjoying themselves.

"Indeed. It was all Ikora's idea, don't thank me."

"You're telling me Ikora did this??" Gate asks.

"Yes." Zavala states at him with a straight face.

And so, Mazora and Gate went off to enjoy themselves.

Gate sat by himself. He was not a fan of these formal parties. He much preferred more "active" occasions. So, he just decided to sit near the tables of food and drink and enjoy himself there, alone.

Mazora however, loved formal parties. He loves the fancy drinks, everyone's calm and professional attitude, and simply the vibe associated with them.

But, as he talked with these people and ate the food and drank, he kept noticing Eris Morn standing alone up on the second floor. She didn't wear a dress, because that's just Eris. She only wore the simple clothes he's seen her in sometimes.

Mazora and Eris were close to eachother. They had worked together for a very long time, and recently, Mazora had begun to feel for her. It felt wrong, in a way. It would be an impossible relationship. Or was it?

He decides to walk upstairs to join her, as she was alone.

"Hello, Eris." Mazora stands next to her on the balcony.

"Mazora.. I did not expect for you to be here." Eris looks at him. She still had on the piece of linen covering her eyes as always, but she had let her hair out. It looked nice.

He then told her she looked nice. She tried to brush it off, but couldn't hide herself blushing a little. She cracks a small smile.

"I'm more surprised to see you here specifically. This doesn't seem like a place you would really like to be."

"I actually prefer this over sitting alone in my room."

"Me too."

They look at eachother silently for a good moment. Gate watches from below. He knows. It makes him feel...envious in a way. He shouldn't feel this way, he knows, but he can't help it. Perhaps in the future he'll be lucky enough to feel the same way Mazora does, who knows.

As they talked more and more, Eris couldn't help but notice Mazora's increasingly clear nervousness.

"Are you okay, Mazora?" She asks.

Mazora's entire brain freezes, only fixating on one statement: "I love you".

He says it to her. At first, she looked a little surprised, in a way, but her face changed to a more relieved expression.

"I am very much aware."

"I'm sorry." The painful feeling in his chest increases.

"It's okay, you don't have to be. I'm starting to feel...similar feelings towards you as well."

The painful feeling instantly dies, a new feeling emerges, the strange one.

"You do?"

"Well, I just told you didn't I?"

A small silence ensues.

"I love you."

"I love you."

The banquet ends, and Gate and Mazora leave, an eternal tension between them.
