(Takes place during Revelation)

Starring: Sylas-9, Frederick, and Gate and Zelus

He was not a very famous Hunter, neither was he a strong one. However, he was grateful for what he had gained over the course of his short new life. This included his mentor, a Titan named Frederick. Fred was an older Guardian, he's been around for a long, long time. They were a good team, and had been for around two years. They would fight great beasts together, have long talks together, and would both learn valuable lessons from eachother. Even an old Titan like Fred could learn a thing or two from a young Hunter.

Sylas would have an idol. This idol was a famous Hunter, the great Gate-4. He would hear the stories of the brave Hunter and his team conquering gods and legends alike. He was the "perfect" example of what a Hunter should be. Of course, Sylas' views would soon fade away.

Today was like most days, which meant most of Sylas' time today would be spent in the Tower. He didn't really have many friends, but would often join in on various activities with others. Today he would witness a high stakes crucible match. Many Guardians were gathered in Lord Shaxx's area, crowded around the large screens on the wall. Many of the Guardians would yell out in joy whenever a big play was made. While Sylas was never a true enjoyer of Crucible, he was given joy listening to the yells and roars of the crowd.

However, something felt off. It was a bright flash in the sky, and Sylas fell to the ground, his head on fire. He would bring his Ghost to heal him, only for his Ghost to fall, dead. Sylas stood up to find everyone else on the ground, some not even moving. What was going on?

It would become clear as Sylas followed the terrified stares and conjoined screams from the entire population of the Last City, it was like a siren. These were the yells and roars Sylas became scared of. He would look up at the sky, and see. The Traveler was gone.

Sylas' knees almost gave out. Why was the Traveler gone? Did it leave? Was it taken?

Sylas just decided to run. He ran throughout the Tower down into the City. He ran past the results of mass suicide, murder, and madness caused by the absence of humanity's savior. His mind would become louder, and he couldn't hear or focus, only run. It was only when a large figure tackled him, holding him close, that he would stop. Frederick would hold him tight, and close.

"Sylas." He would say. Sylas would look up at his mentor.

"It's gone Fred! The Traveler!"

Frederick would grab Sylas' face. He opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out.

"We need to go."

"Go where?!"

"I don't know. I don't know what to do Sylas! I don't know!"

Sylas took a step back, he was startled by his mentor's fear.

"What about Gate and his team of heroes? They'll save us right?"

"You're a fool to think that Sylas."

"How?!"

Frederick put his hands on Sylas' shoulders.

"We go find somewhere safe, then we talk."

They would walk past riots in the streets, thousands of sights of death, and destruction all around before they found a quiet dock.

They sit, and watched the water quietly move in the night.

Sylas began to feel...tired.

"Do you know what we are going to do?" He asks Fred.

"No. I don't."

"If anything, I kn-"

Fred shushed him. He points to a dark figure walking silently on the other side of the dock. He would stop at the edge, and just look out quietly at the water.

"It's just a Hunter." Sylas comments.

"I'm going to speak to him. Stay here."

Fred approaches the Hunter. Sylas watches as the Hunter turns around, and Sylas saw the sign, the purple glow in his eyes, it was him.

Sylas leaves his mind as Fred is thrown across the dock with incredible force. What was Gate doing?!

Fred struggles to get up, his previous strength as a Titan gone. Gate slowly walks towards him.

"Sylas!" Fred yells up at him.

Sylas draws his hand cannon on Gate, but immediately becomes afraid of him. Gate stopped at Fred, glaring at Sylas.

"You're going to shoot me?" Zelus, in the voice of Gate, asks.

Sylas can't get words out of his mouth.

"Sylas!!" Fred yells again. Gate grabs him by the head, lifting him up like he is nothing. Sylas still is frozen.

"Do you wish to see your mentor die?" Zelus asks.

"No."

"Then take that pathetic gun of yours, and fire upon me." There was a growl in Zelus' voice.

Sylas can't bring himself to kill his own idol. But what was he thinking? His mentor's life was in his han-

Before he could continue to think, Fred's body falls. His world falling before him.

"You weak imbecile." Zelus steps over Fred's body.

Sylas yells out and fires quickly at Zelus. Zelus falls. Sylas quickly reloads.

He witness something change. Zelus and Gate would fight once again inside. Gate would then momentarily take control. The growl in his voice was gone. He was different now.

Gate looks up at Sylas, then down at Fred.

"Did I..."

"You killed him!" Sylas holds his aim true.

"That was not me! I am not him!!" Gate yells, trying to keep Zelus away for a little longer.

"You were my idol!" Sylas begins to squeeze the trigger, but Gate kicks the gun out of his hands, and embraces him, hugging him.

Sylas is frozen.

"Please leave...Sylas." Gate whispers.

"I will never leave you."

A blade to the chest from Zelus would test that claim.
