Erebus, his three sons, and Zelus, are all apart of a subspecies called Celestial Demons. There are good and bad demons, but they are inherently evil. Most remain this way, but of course, we both know some of them can become great heroes.
Demons main purpose is to possess a body of their choice, take over the mind, and then they really use the body for whatever they want, usually for destruction.
Their origins are unknown, but it leads back to the Nine in some way, according to the Drifter, who has unsurprisingly encounter multiple in his time.
"What are they?" Many ask. Are they another result of the collapse? The residue from the fight between the Light and Dark? Or are they simply beings in an infinite universe, just like us.
