Sometimes, accidents happen.

You could try everything in your power to avoid it but when all else fails, an accident is bound to happen. If you were lucky, the accident could turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to you. If you weren't lucky, the accident might cost you your livelihood.

Lucky for a couple of seventeen-year-olds, their 'accident' worked out for the best. Their son and daughter had been born healthy on September 5th 1977. Sapphire Serina Black, named from her mother's love of crystals, and Alexander Regulus Black, named by his father in honour of the name his brother wanted.

Serina Potter wished a war hadn't torn everything apart; She could have lived a happy life with her husband and two children. Instead, she watched her brother be thrown into hiding with their own son. She watched her best friend Remus lose his girlfriend, Maria Fortescue, and leave him as a single dad.

She wasn't sure what else she could take.

"We're going to visit your cousin, today," Serina told her daughter. "Do you want to see Harry and Nate?"

"Mhm!"  The three-year-old beamed, hair turning a soft yellow.

Sapphire was the only one to be a metamorphagus in the immediate family, though her cousin Nymphadora was too. Euphemia Potter, Serina's mother, had expressed that there was a mild history in their family too. Alexander, sadly, did not inherit this.

"Alex, come on!" Sirius called to his son. "What are you doing?"

"Shoe," Alex held up his small boot-clad foot.

"Oh," Sirius smiled, bending down to tie his shoe. "Better?"

With a nod from his son, Sirius picked him up and placed him on his shoulders. Alex wrapped his arms around Sirius' neck to avoid falling.

"I think you should check on Peter tonight," Serina suggested. "I can manage these two, don't worry."

"If you say so," Sirius replied. "Does Dumbledore still want to meet us tomorrow?"

"I believe so, he says it's very important..."

Sirius nodded as they approached Lily and James Potter's house. At Serina's request, they only lived on the next street. It was ideal for a low profile and to keep in close contact.

"Moony here?" Sapphire questioned.

Due to the war, Sirius and Serina gave their children godparents. They gave them two each instead of the same for both (in case the worst thing happened and anyone else was killed). Sapphire's being Andromeda Tonks (Sirius' only liked relative) and Remus Lupin (Serina's best friend), Alexander's being Lily and James.

"Hey!" James grinned as he opened the door to his sister.

"Hello," Serina replied smoothly, placing Sapphire in his arms. "Say hello to your favourite niece."

"Hi!" Sapphire squealed.

"Hello mini Rina," James replied, ruffling her hair before moving to Alex. "Hello Mini Siri."

"We won't be staying long," Serina replied lightly,"We wanted to get home before the street gets a little busier. After all, it is Halloween."

════════ ⋆★⋆ ════════

Halloween is when the monsters come from the dark.

Humans could be monsters too if they were bad enough.

The dark room would be silent if it was not for the cries of two toddlers. There was no light in the house, with the lamp in the corner in the room shattered with glass all over the floor. In fact, most of the items in the room had been smashed or discarded by the nearest walls.

The small boy, still crying in distress, stood in his crib while gripping the wooden bars. His twin sister sat on the floor wailing. Their mother, only twenty-one years old, lay motionless on the floor beside her.

"Serina!" The man's voice echoed from downstairs.

The floorboards echoed as he ran up the stairs, running into the room where his family had been torn apart in mere hours...he had lost his wife. He'd already lost his best friends and now he'd lost his wife too.

"I'm going to kill him," Sirius mumbled. "He killed my wife, he killed her...and my friends. Oh Sapphire, Alex, I'm so sorry."

As Sirius picked up his daughter from the floor, he caught sight of the lightning bolt on her wrist; his eyes flashed back to his godson but his grief was too overpowering for it to be a problem at that moment. Instead, he moved to pick up his son as well.

Eyes flicked to the wall, where 'Bellatrix Lestrange' had been carved into the wall. His body shook with rage but there was nothing he could do now. He needed his children to be safe.

And then he was going after the secret keeper.

It feels like so long ago when I tried to restart this, turns out it was! 10 months ago damn but anyone, I'll be carrying on with it this time around :)
