Chapter 30

I returned to the crowd, and tried to find Sebastian. After a few minutes of looking, I spotted him near the fireplace talking Imelda and a few others.

I joined them, and they both gave me a smirk upon my arrival. "When are you planning on doing it?" Imelda asked me.

"In a little bit," I said. "I want to wait until they've had a few to drink so it'll be easier to slip it to them."

"Did Garreth ever tell you what the intended outcome for that potion is?" she went on.

"No, he'd said it was a surprise," I chuckled. "But knowing Garreth, it won't be whatever he meant for it to do. I just hope it actually works."

"Worth a try," Sebastian admitted. "I just hope nothing too terrible happens. Weasley definitely has a penchant for blowing things up."

I looked across the room to where Adelaide and Lenora were- they were chatting up some other students, acting like they belonged here. If they knew what was good for them, they wouldn't have come.

Even if something terrible happened to them due to me, I wouldn't be upset about it. I'm not worried about it at all, frankly.

They deserve the worst.

About an hour later into the party, I decided to move the plan into action. They had been downing drinks like madmen, so sneaking around to them with the disillusionment charm would be an easy task.

I slipped back into a dark corner and cast the charm over myself.

I took my time moving through the crowd, careful not to bump anyone and give myself away. Once I reached Lenora and Adelaide, I pulled the potion from my pocket and undid the cork. I sneaked up to Lenora first, emptying about half of it into her drink. It dramatically changed the color of what was already in her cup, but I was hoping she'd be too buzzed to notice. After that, I did the same to Adelaide, emptying out what was left.

I carefully crept back to the others and reversed the charm, appearing in front of them.

"It is done," I grinned maliciously.

"Now we just wait," Imelda said.

Over the next few minutes, we'd glance back over to them hoping to see results.

Nothing so far.

If the potion is just an overall dud, then so be it. I can find another way to get them back. I wasn't planning on this being the only thing I did to them regardless.

After a few more minutes, we finally started to see the results.

At first, it wasn't anything noticeable. Their hair took on a greenish tint, only visible under certain light. As the minutes went by, the color became more vivid, and others around them started noticing. They panicked and looked for a mirror. When they found one, they were very confused.

Seconds later, they both started to scream as their hair began to fall out in clumps.

With what followed next, all I can say is that I'm glad I hadn't been brave enough to try the potion myself when it was gifted to me.

They were screaming now, yelling jumbled and indecipherable sentences. I watched as their skin began to turn green and scaly, making them look like lizard people.

People around them were starting to freak out as well, but I was dying from laughter.

"Who did this?" Lenora was screaming, over and over again. "Who would do something like this? This is a cruel joke!"

"Maybe someone spiked your drinks," someone said to them.

Maybe

Prove it, Lenora.

They left quickly after that, said they were going to the nurse to reverse it. The lizard skin would wear off eventually, but I wasn't so sure about their hair coming back.

They'd probably get in even more trouble, as they were already severely intoxicated.

"They're probably going to rat out the party," Imelda said. "We should probably be off to bed soon."

"You're right," I replied.

Imelda told Sebastian and I goodbye and headed off towards the dorm. I was about to follow, but Sebastian grabbed me by my sleeve and pulled me back.

"I don't want tonight to be over just yet," he told me. "How would you like to do something spontaneous and maybe a little bit dangerous?"

"Depends on how dangerous," I laughed. "What did you have in mind?"

"Just follow me," Sebastian grinned, taking my hand. "You'll see." He led me through the crowd and out of the Slytherin common room. Immediately upon our exit, we head voices down the hall. Se cast the disillusionment charm over ourselves and backed up to the wall, slowly creeping our way towards the stairs.

The source of the voices was revealed as Professor Sharp and the Headmaster as they swiftly walked past us toward the common room.

We just barely managed to get ahead of them. if we'd left any later, we would have been caught.

Sebastian leads me down the dark corridor. After we were out of earshot, I turned to Sebastian, relinquishing the disillusionment charm on myself. "Are you going to tell me where we're going yet?" I asked.

"Nope," he said, playfully. "Like I said, you'll just have and see when we get there."

He was still holding my hand, which made my insides blush. I thought back to when we were in the Undercroft a week ago, when I wanted to kiss him. I wished I'd kissed him.

What was stopping me from kissing him?

I was probably the alcohol in me talking. I wasn't actually going to kiss him. I wasn't brave enough to make a move like that.

I followed him through the halls and out of the school. We started on the path towards Hogsmeade, but he led me off the trail and into the forest.

"We're going into the forest?" I asked him.

"Yes, there's somewhere I'd like to show you," he said. "I found it last year while exploring, and thought you might enjoy it too."

"Okay, well let's go then," I said with a curious smile.

We walked through the forest with our wands drawn, in case we came across anything. He took me up a hillside, and after a while we reached the entrance to a cave.
