Sebastian's POV//

The rest of us followed behind y/n as she headed toward the astronomy tower at a brisk pace. She stopped and peeked around every corner before motioning for us to follow.

I was so glad that Charles was no more. I only wish I'd gotten to kill the bastard myself long ago. He'd done so much to both y/n and me over the last few months; he'd deserved what he got. We were all better off without him. Even though I was getting to know y/n all over again. I'd already begun to care for her deeply and I didn't want to see her getting hurt anymore. Hopefully, after tonight, that would be the last of it.

Once we reached the last flight of corkscrew stairs leading up to the astronomy tower, we faced two armed wizards, which our group took down easily.

"Alright, there will probably be more of them when we get up there," y/n said in a hushed tone, "be ready for anything."

We all nodded and continued forward.

Once we reached the top, we saw that y/n was right. There were six of Charles' goons ready to attack us. The teachers were all lying still, their hands tied against the railing. At the top of the tower, the air was brisk, and you could see your breath when you breathed out. I shivered and wondered how the girls were feeling in their dresses, knowing they were much less covered up than me and the guys.

Y/n took on our attackers almost single-handedly, and it was mesmerizing, watching her fight with the wandless magic she'd learned from Natty. It was amazing to see how quickly she took to it. When it came to y/n it seemed there was nothing she couldn't do.

"Finite," y/n said, waving her hand over the teachers. They came to and were rather startled at the situation they found themselves in.

"I demand to know what's going on at once!" Headmaster Black demanded.

As we untied the teachers, y/n explained what had happened, and told them about the fight that waited for us downstairs. The teachers had similar stories of their capture, of being caught off guard or cornered when they were alone in their chambers. That's how they managed to capture every single one.

"Heavens! What a capable group of young witches and wizards, you are," Professor Weasley said. "I apologize that you had to go through that alone."

After all the teachers were unbound, we finished getting them up to speed on what was going on, explaining how many of the men we assumed were waiting for us to fight.

"I'm hoping that once we announce Charles is dead, they won't want to fight anymore," y/n stated, "maybe they'll realize they've lost at that point."

Everyone nodded in agreement and started the walk down the stairs of the astronomy tower. I followed right behind y/n, watching the back of her head as she led us down the steps.

Y/n was right; after making our way back to the Great Hall, Professor Weasley re-lit the pyres in the room, lifting the blanket of darkness from the hall. Y/n announced to the remainder of Charles' following that he was gone. They all either surrendered or tried to run, but were captured in the process. Prefects began leading the still frazzled student body back to their dorms and away from the scene in the hall. Professor black could be seen at the head of the room trying to give order and direction, but nobody was listening to him at great length. They were all paying more attention to y/n and Professor Weasley.

I watched from a distance as y/n talked to a few of the teachers. She looked far more relaxed than she had been at the beginning of the evening. In all honesty, she was probably more relaxed than I'd seen her in weeks.

I finally put my wand back in my jacket and made my way through the crowd to where y/n was. Her hair had been styled in an elegant updo before all of the commotion, but it now fell freely down her neck and around her face. Her makeup was smudged, and the hem of her dress had been torn slightly, but I still thought she looked beautiful.

What was supposed to be a peaceful night for her and me turned into a mess, but I was still glad that everything was over. Now, I'd have all the time in the world to earn her back without worrying about something happening to her. Before, it always felt like her mind was occupied as was mine, but now, I hoped that we would be able to relax.

I approached y/n and placed my hand on the small of her back to get her attention. She finished up her conversation and turned around to face me.

Y/n's POV//

Sebastian approached me and took my attention from the conversation I was having. He gave me a soft and peaceful smile, and I could tell he was as glad as I was that this was finally all over.

Still, there was some doubt in the back of my head, wondering if there were others like me or people who wanted to abuse the magic that was held beneath Hogwarts. Well, I knew for a fact that there had to be others like me. It was just lucky in my instance that I was in the right place at the right time, and that I had Professor Fig to help me find my answers. Someone could go their entire life without ever discovering what I now knew about myself.

"It's over," he said, his eyes looking me over.

"And so it is," I responded, finally returning his smile. His hand never left the small of my back, even as I turned to face him completely.

"There's still one regret that I have, though," he stated with a smirk on his face.

"And what would that be?"

"The prettiest girl in the whole school was my date to the ball, and I didn't even get to have a proper dance with her."
