After dinner, I headed back to the common room. I saw Sebastian chatting with Ominis by the fireplace, but I passed on by and went to my room. I'd already made it known that I wanted to talk to him, so it was his turn to approach me.

I didn't even look in his direction to see if he'd noticed me.

As I paced my room, I wondered if I should just go back to the cave tonight by myself. I knew that Sebastian would probably want to go with me if I went, but I wasn't in the mood to deal with his angst at the moment. I wanted to know what was going on and deal with it before it got too out of hand.

And so I got dressed in a sweater and pants, putting a warm robe over the top. This time, I came prepared with wiggenweld potions in case I'd need them. I didn't last time, but you never know.

When I popped out into the common room a second time, he was still there, but paid no attention to me.

Why was he ignoring me? Did I do something wrong?

Sebastian had held my hand earlier after quidditch practice, but that's all the attention I've gotten from him since class. I felt so stupid for obsessing over it like I was. He's just a boy, and here I am, tying myself in a knot over him.

I headed out of the castle and started off towards the cave. It was already dark outside due to the time of year. I was never one for the cold weather. On the way there, I ran into a few spiders but took care of them easily. I got closer to the cave and immediately noticed changes.

For one, they had a camp set up around the entrance to the cave. I scouted it out and counted seven men outside. There'd be no way of telling how many would be in there once I got inside.

They were moving fast on this.

I needed to get inside and see if they'd made any progress. Whoever these men were, they meant business.

I pressed forward, casting the disillusionment charm on myself.

"Petrificus totalus," I whispered behind the man guarding the entrance, pointing my wand at them. He became paralyzed and fell to the ground. I worked my way through as much of the camp as I could before I revealed myself and fought the remaining four wizards.

I stood on the defense as they blasted spells at me. I deflected their own spells back at them as they tried to take me down. "Confringo!" I yelled. Fire blasted from my wand and took out one of them. I turned around just in time to block one of the other's spells. I used my ancient magic to pick him up, slamming him into the ground a few times until he stopped moving. Now there were only two left. I launched a barrel at one of them, knocking him down. I turned to the other.

"Glacius!" I shouted. "Diffindo!" I froze the poor guy and then sliced my magic through him, effectively ending his life. I turned away from the sight, looking for the other guy.

"Incendio!" I heard from behind me. By the time I turned around, I knew it would be too late. I closed my eyes, bracing for impact.

"Protego!" Someone yelled in front of me. I opened my eyes to see a familiar figure in front of me.

"Expelliarmus!" Shouted Sebastian, knocking the last one out. Sebastian turned to me with a hint of annoyance in his eyes.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him.

"The real question is what are you doing here?" he yelled at me. "Why the hell would you think it's okay to come out here all by yourself? You could've died just now!"

"Well I'm sorry," I said. "I was going to come out tonight regardless of if you came or not, and seeing as you were giving me the silent treatment all day, I figured you weren't an option."

He came over to me, grabbing my arms roughly. "Don't you ever think about doing something this stupid again!" He continued to yell at me even though he was only a few inches from his face now.

I have a really bad habit of crying when people yell at me.

I felt the tears coming, welling up in my eyes.

"If you care so goddamn much, then why have you been ignoring me all day?"

"This isn't the right place to discuss this right now, y/n," he said to me, his voice softening. he started letting go of my arms. He walked a few paces away and turned his body away from me.

"You're right," I bit back. "I'm busy here, so just go back to the castle and let me finish this."

"No way in hell I'm letting you go in there alone," he scoffed.

"I'm doing just fine by myself, thank you," I said, prancing past him towards the cave entrance.

He grabbed me by my sleeve and pulled me against him. "Not so fast there, Ms. Hero Pants," he remarked. "You can't do everything on your own, you know." He looked into my eyes. Some of the anger was gone, but I could tell he was still annoyed with me.

I pulled my sleeve out of his hand and backed away from him. He's seen what I can do. He knows perfectly well I'm able to defend myself. So why was he acting like such an arse about it?

"Y/n, just come back to the castle with me. We can deal with this in the morning," he negotiated.

"I'm here to deal with this right now," I stated. "Either come with me, or leave me here. I'm not leaving until I take out the rest of the camp."

"Fine, have it your way," he said. He walked over to the entrance of the cave. "You coming or not?"

I rolled my eyes and followed him into the cave.
