Gemma

Bennett and I made it to his apartment with our new evening wear. He let me have his room to shower and get ready undisturbed. I still wasn't sure what he was up to, but a hot shower to wash off the coffee smell was much needed. I doubted he had a hairdryer or any of the other accessories I'd need to get ready, but I suppose I would make do. I wasn't an overly fussy woman. The dress I picked out, solely to make Bennett's eyes bug out was a lace midi dress, a corset bodice with cups to hold the girls up thankfully. It was pleated and lined with satin. Easily the most expensive thing I would now own, and I couldn't wait to see if it had the desired effect.

"Bennett, is there any chance you have a hair dryer?" I called out of the doorway, tightening the towel around me.

"Nope. I don't, but my friend here does." He stepped around the corner and then paused for a moment. "Um...bottom drawer, you can grab a t-shirt and shorts to throw on for now." He looked a mixture of turned on and worried.

"Your friend?" I stepped out into the hall, the towel covering me well enough. Once I did, I saw a young blonde standing near the kitchen island with a bag. "Who are you?" I blurted. I suppose my turn to be a bit jealous.

"Hi! I'm Tisha. I'll be your hair and make-up artist for the evening." She smiled with perfect pearly white teeth. I looked from her to Bennett and back again. I had so many questions.

"Surprise." Bennett squeaked out. "I, uh, assumed you'd need all of the makeup things, and why not have some fun and..."

"Make sure I look presentable to be out on the soccer player's arm in front of all of his friends?" I raised a brow, feeling a little insulted.

"What? Jesus, No. That's what you took from this? My God, Gemma I think you're absolutely stunning just like that." He motioned up and down. "I was... I don't know. I thought girls liked all of this, shopping sprees and getting all made up and shit." He looked genuinely confused and uncomfortable. Poor Tisha looked incredibly awkward as well. "Excuse us for just a moment." He nodded at her, gently nudging me back into his bedroom, and closing the door behind us.

"I'm sorry, Gem. I really thought this was a nice gesture. I... fuck. I'm not good at all of this kind of stuff. I was overly excited at the thought of taking you out, on a real date and I just wanted to make it special for you. You deserve all these nice things." He was tugging at his hair, looking pained as he spoke. I felt awful for snapping at him. I should have known better, he'd done nothing to indicate he was anything but a nice guy and here I was being a massive bitch any time he treated me well.

"Don't apologize. You didn't do anything wrong. I struggle I think. I have a hard time with these things because it's been a while, ya know. With everything." I quietly admitted. Opening up to him in a way I wouldn't have weeks ago. Before I could say anything else, he cupped my face in his giant hands and gave me a deep kiss, nearly taking my breath away. Bennett leaned his forehead against mine for a moment.

"Get used to it. I'll do all the things for you Gemma." His response had my belly flopping in a mixture of happiness and anxiety. "I'll send Tisha in, you two do whatever you need to do. I'll get dressed in Reed's room and be waiting for you." He leaned down again, this time softly touching his lips to mine in the most intimate way. So soft, yet so powerful that it almost brought tears to my eyes.

"That dress is gorgeous," Tisha commented as I stepped out of the bathroom. She'd done a fantastic job on my hair and makeup. Light with the makeup, the dark lining of my eyes to go with the dress, and my hair down with some loose curls. I had to admit I felt sexy as hell when I looked in the mirror. The wire lining and cups made my breasts look amazing and the cinched waist of a corset hugged my curves perfectly. It was a little over the top compared to what I would have normally worn, but I was enjoying it.

"Thank you. I picked it just to mess with him." I laughed, pointing toward the door.

"I just met him tonight and I can tell you that one, he's obsessed with you and totally has hearts in his eyes. Second, that dress is going to kill him." Her genuine smile filled her face as she gathered the rest of her supplies. "Now I'm going to leave before he gets to see you because that needs to be an intimate moment." She winked at me with a laugh. I thanked her again and took a deep breath as I heard her saying her goodbyes to Bennett in the living room. I slipped into the solid black pumps purchased as well and opened the door. I could see him out of the corner of my eye, standing against the island. He was scrolling through his phone, casual and calm.

One step, two steps...I stood waiting for him to look up. I almost felt like it was prom night and giggled at the thought. That grabbed his attention and when he looked at me, my whole body felt like it was on fire. His brown eyes were wide and his phone quickly deposited on the counter as he immediately stepped toward me.

"I'm..." He stood directly in front of me, staring. "You're making my heart beat faster than it ever has." His words were spoken softly, almost as if he had to push them out. "I have no idea what I did for the universe to think I deserve to be in your presence but I'd do it a thousand times over to see you like this, right now." He was making me dizzy, my throat dry and tears threatening to ruin the makeup Tisha had flawlessly done.

"You look pretty good yourself." I choked out. He was indeed wearing the three-piece suit I was totally teasing about. I never thought he'd go for it, though knowing him as much as I did, I should've realized he'd do anything for me. It hit me hard at that moment, that in the short amount of time, I'd known him, the amount of time I was starting to let him in, and even before that, Bennett Hayes would do anything for me. "Thank you. For the dress, for Tisha, just for everything." I stepped into him, cupping his face in my hand for a change. He closed his eyes for a moment, leaning into my touch. When he opened them he just smiled.

"Bennett, kiss me, please."

A low rumble came from his chest as he leaned in, just before pressing his lips to mine he whispered "I'm afraid I'm never going to be able to stop kissing you, Gem."
