Bennett
"Can't believe my son is getting married!" Allen, Reed's dad exclaimed as we all stood around in the dressing room. Allen was Reed's best man, then myself and Tate were groomsmen. We were half-dressed for the day, relaxing in the dressing room. The girls of course needed more time than us to get ready. "When are you going to settle down?" Allen slapped my back with a laugh.
"He's next, guaranteed." Reed teased coming up and giving his Dad a hug. The last two years had been hard on them. Allen suffered a heart attack, Reed's little sister was diagnosed with leukemia then Reed donated stem cells to help her recover. Thankfully they all were doing well and healthy for this event. "Reed is clearly caught up in the wedding vibes because I am most definitely not next." I returned the slap on the back to Allen before heading over to some of the others. The wedding was relatively small compared to some I'd attended. Eden, not having a family, wanted to keep it small and intimate. They found a small venue just north of the city, a barn-type structure that catered to these types of events. I had to admit it was beautiful. I'd walked around the area earlier with Hugh, taking everything in. There was a small area for the ceremony near a pond with a fountain then the reception would be held inside.
"Every wedding I go to or I'm part of is another notch in the definitely not getting married category for me." Hugh laughed as he approached. I shook my head at him, he was most certainly a career bachelor. In the years I'd known him, he'd never had a girlfriend, but always a girl joining him for the evening.
"I said I wasn't next, but someday. Hopefully." I spoke quietly, surprising myself with the admission. Of course, I'd thought about marriage and children. I imagined it to be far down the road though and how skittish Gemma was, I wondered ... I didn't want to think about it. She was it for me and it hurt to think of any future that didn't involve her. I was doing my best to stay in the moment with her, not wanting to scare her away.
"Alright, time to go ladies!" The coordinator, also known as Brynn called out as she popped her head into the dressing room. Tate of course was the first out, I'm sure stealing a moment with his wife. It was still taking some time to get used to them as husband and wife. I adjusted my bow tie and buttoned my tux jacket before following the others out. I could hear faint music as we made our way out toward our waiting area. Gemma and I would be walking out after Reed and his Mom and Step-Mom then Reed's sister Amy walking with Tate and Allen walking with Brynn. His youngest sister, Lizzie would serve as flower girl before Eden walked herself down the aisle.
The seats were all filled, about fifty guests total but perfect for the setting Eden and Reed wanted. I was lost in my own thoughts, gazing out over the venue when I felt a hand lightly touch my back. When I turned around, I'm not sure what I was expecting but the sight of Gemma dolled up in her bridesmaid gown, nearly knocked me on my ass.
"Hi." Her voice, sweet as honey poured over me, and I was frozen. It was like a movie, slapping me in the face, I could see it, my future with her. Our wedding day, events, dancing, her cheering at my games, children, all of it. "Are you okay?" She laughed sweetly. Her black hair was pinned back on the top and loose curls flowed down her body that was snug in a lavender gown. Those green eyes outlined in black stared up at me, taking every breath I had.
"Wow." I was having trouble formulating real words. To say she was stunning was an understatement. "I'm fine. Wow, you just look... incredible." I reached for her, wanting to get my hands on her and hold her to me. She held her hand up to my chest, patting me. "You look pretty amazing yourself." She giggled as she scooted closer.
"Gemma." Her name felt so perfect on my lips. I gripped my hand on her hip, holding her to me. "You look absolutely incredible, I mean that. You're beautiful." I leaned down and gently gave her a kiss on the lips. I wanted to ravish her but I knew better than to attempt anything but gentle at the moment.
"Thank you." She returned my kiss with a smile. "You ready for this?"
"Ready to get this formal part done, can't wait to get you out on the dance floor though." I started to sway with her already, thinking about how amazing she was going to feel in my arms. Normally I wasn't much of a dancer, but with Gemma, I'd do just about anything.
"You're too cute." Brynn cooed as she joined us. "It's time to get it together and get our friends hitched!" She cheered, pulling us along to our starting spot.
The ceremony was nice and simple. It didn't take long and honestly, I couldn't focus on much other than Gemma. Every time I looked over and saw her standing there, my brain would malfunction. I just hoped no one in the audience picked up on it because I had to look like some kind of lovesick fool, or pervert. As soon as we were reunited, walking back down the aisle, everything felt perfect again and I wanted to take her off and be alone but of course wedding duties. We took our group pictures for what seemed like an eternity, then split off. Once the guys were finished with theirs we were able to head to the bar and grab a drink while waiting for the ladies and Reed to finish up. My dad, who Reed had invited, made a beeline for me as soon as we made eye contact.
"Can't wait to meet her." He smirked, taking the beer I had just got for myself.
"That obvious, huh?" I shook my head, realizing I wasn't as discreet as I hoped.
"I almost came up there to wipe the drool off your chin. She's gorgeous, can't blame ya. Has your Mom met her yet?" We could hear chatter getting louder, signaling the reception was ready to begin. "Not yet." I quickly replied, turning to scan the room for her. "Well, whenever you're ready, bring her to say hello." with that, he took off to mingle with the other guests, leaving me with Tate.
"We're lucky bastards." He commented as the girls entered the room just before the DJ announced Mr. and Mrs. Reed Sawyer to the group. The room quickly filled with cheers, hollers, and whistles. The smiles that covered Reed and Eden's faces were priceless and I was grateful he allowed me to share in their moment. Once everything started to die down and people were taking their seats, I attempted to get to Gemma. At every turn though someone wanted to say Hello, discuss Soccer, or even the restaurant venture. I'd look around and make eye contact with her, we'd share a smile and then it would be back to mingling. We weren't even the bride and groom, yet somehow the chaos of the event consumed us as well. By the time we took our seats and speeches were made, food was served and I was dying to get my girl.
The DJ announced the first dance and once the lights were dimmed, I hopped over to the seat next to her. She gave me a coy smile, leaning into me as the slow song played and our friends danced together as a married couple. I reached under the table, taking her hand in mine and intertwining our fingers before rubbing my thumb gently across the back of her hand. Her sigh as the dance came to an end made me smile, watching as others took to the dance floor as well. I knew then this was finally my chance. I rose to my feet and tugged her along with me and found my way with her up to the second level. From there we could watch everyone below and also have privacy.
"I've been waiting for this moment for the last twenty-four hours," I confessed, wrapping my arms around her and holding her as close to me as possible. "You're driving me insane with how amazing you look and just out of reach all night." I nuzzled into her neck, peppering it with kisses.
"You look pretty tasty yourself, Mr. Hayes." She laughed, running her hands up through my hair, scratching at my scalp in such a way that made my pants feel a little tighter than they had before.
"You want to taste me?" I arched a brow, leaning back and looking into my favorite green eyes. She bit her lip and gave a slow nod, causing a growl to release from me. This woman! As much as the thought of her taking my cock into that perfect mouth of hers, I was feeling too mushy and right now, I just wanted our lips to touch and our hands to stay together. I crashed my lips down onto hers, capturing her mouth and pushing my tongue against hers. The light moan that escaped from her when I did only heightened the desire and I almost gave in to the temptation to take her to the nearest empty room and have my way with her. Instead, with our mouths fused together, I held her to me and began to sway with the music. Holding on to my girl, kissing and touching while our bodies moved together. It was perfection.
