"Only you, Eden. Only you can have a whole party to celebrate YOU and then turn it around to someone else." I wiped away the happy tears that were still on my face. "It's fine, Eden. Everything is turning out how it's supposed to be."

I made my way around the coffee shop, picking up plates and cups, and cleaning as I went. The evening seemed to drag on and the longer it went I couldn't take it. I didn't want to watch that woman hanging all over Bennett any longer.

"I'm gonna head out, I've got a lot of things to take care of so unless you want me to help clean up, I'm out." I wrapped my arms around Los as I spoke, giving him a squeeze.

"Oh no.. something.. You didn't talk to him did you?" He peered down at me through his long lashes and intense brown eyes. He turned, taking my hands into his. "What happened?"

"It's fine, Los. I promise. I think... it just wasn't meant to be." I smiled at him, doing my best to convey a contentment that I didn't feel in my heart. I didn't want any more worry for me. I gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "Need my help or not, 'cause this ship is about to sail."

"Go, I guess. I'm not going to push you right now, but you know I'm going to want details later." He waved his left hand around as his right sat on his hip while sassing me out the door. I said my goodbyes to Reed and Eden, congratulating them both and her again. Eden of course tried to broach the subject of Bennett, but I was able to distract her with baby talk before rushing out the door. The cool air hit my face just before the rain began to fall harder. It seemed fitting, the sky was crying for me because I refused to let myself shed another tear.

"Gemma Tabott! Stop right there!" Brynn's voice rang out down the sidewalk as I was hurrying toward my car. I couldn't help but laugh, knowing she was most likely going to question me as well, knowing that I had intended to speak with Bennett. "Where are you running off to?" She popped open an umbrella and stepped aside, pulling me with her.

"I'm heading home. I'm tired and the celebration was winding down anyway. I'm sorry, do you want me to stay and help with clean up?"

"For fucks sake. No." She rolled her eyes in annoyance. "I want to know what happened with you and our mutual friend."

"Well, I saw he had a date and... I'm just not going to make things messier than they already are. It's okay, Brynn. Really, it is." I tried to reassure her but she wasn't buying it, I could see the thoughts swirling in her head.

"He didn't have a date, Bennett has never dated anyone other than you."

"There was a very modelesque blonde hanging all over him most of the evening, so if he didn't bring a date, he certainly found one."

"I'm going to let you head home because you're right, we're wrapping up but also because I'm going to go in there and find out who the slut is and make sure she goes away."

"That sounds awfully ominous, so please don't do anything. It's okay. I'm fine. It's fine, I promise." I did my best to convince her to leave it alone, though I wasn't fully confident she would. After a few over-dramatic sighs, she agreed though and we said goodbye. She returned to Brew and I headed home.

I entered my apartment and quickly removed my rain jacket. I slipped out of my heels and rushed down the hall to start a bath. Nothing felt better after a rainy evening than a nice soak in the tub. After gathering all the toiletries I needed, I stripped myself bare and slowly slid down into the hot water, feeling it sting so good. I had my black hair piled high on the top of my head in a messy bun, my tub pillow behind my neck, and my body albeit slowly but surely starting to relax. I closed my eyes, humming with how amazing it felt. The bath salts relax my muscles. After another deep breath, I could feel myself almost drifting off to sleep just as my phone began to vibrate on the counter. I opened my right eye, peering over at it as it danced around. I waited, figuring it was Los calling, making a mental note to text him later. Unfortunately for me, he wasn't going to give up that easily and the second it stopped it only started again and again.

"Fine!" Grumbling, I stood and stepped out of the tub, wrapping my robe around me and snatching the phone up. "What?! What do you want, Los? I was having a perfectly good soak in the tub!"

"I'm all about a good bath, but I think you want to hear this. Also, it's Brynn, not Los, just making sure we're clear." She giggled. The little shit.

"Ugh, what do I need to hear, Brynn?"

"I told you he doesn't date. Bennett Hayes did not have a date. That was his step-sister. She was there with Hugh." I let her words soak in for a moment, I know what I saw. It was pretty touchy-feely for a step-sibling. Bennett had never mentioned his Father remarrying or having a step-sister either. "Stop overthinking it. She was not there with him. I confirmed with Tate and Hugh. I left Bennett out of it like you asked, but if you're gonna be difficult, I'll call him." I couldn't help but laugh at her threat.

"Ok, so what do I do now then, Mrs., Know-it-all?"

"Duh, a grand gesture! It's not always the man's job to put it all out there. So, it's on you. Come up with something good, show that man you want him and he's not getting away."

"You make it sound so easy."

"Oh it is, it will be, with my help!"
