Why... are you talking to me?

The next morning, she walked through the gates of Köcher High, blending into the crowd of students filling the courtyard. The school was already alive with energy-groups chatting, some taking pictures, others scrolling through their phones.

She kept her head down, adjusting the strap of her camera bag.

Her eyes flickered toward the main entrance, where F4 usually made their entrance, but she quickly looked away. She had no reason to pay them any attention. Not after what she had seen.

She made her way to class, slipping into her seat quietly.

A familiar voice broke through her thoughts.

"Morning!"

She looked up. Gorya was smiling at her, plopping down into the seat beside her.

"Morning," she replied softly.

Gorya stretched, letting out a small yawn. "Ugh, I stayed up late finishing an assignment. You?"

She hesitated. What was she supposed to say? That she had spent the evening at the cemetery, speaking to people who would never answer? That she had walked home with a heavy heart, only to enter a house that never felt like home?

"Nothing much," she said instead.

Gorya nodded, resting her chin on her hand. "Well, at least you don't have to worry about our teachers attacking you with questions."

She blinked in confusion.

Gorya smirked. "They always pick on the loud ones. Lucky you."

A small, almost unnoticeable smile tugged at her lips.

Maybe this day wouldn't be so bad.

She hesitated for a moment before glancing at Gorya.

"Why... are you talking to me?"

Gorya blinked, clearly not expecting the question. "Huh? What do you mean?"

She looked down at her desk, fidgeting with the strap of her bag. "I just... people don't usually talk to me."

Gorya tilted her head. "So? That doesn't mean I can't."

She frowned slightly. "But why?"

For a moment, Gorya just looked at her, as if trying to find the right words. Then, she shrugged. "Because I wanted to?"

She furrowed her brows, still not fully understanding.
