You're right. I didn't see you then. But I do now. And I won't stop seeing you.

It had been a little while now

It had been a little while now. Most of the guests had already left, and the once lively banquet hall was now filled with staff wrapping up the event, cleaning up glasses and folding tablecloths.

Lia stood by one of the empty tables, her arms gently folded as her eyes wandered around the slowly emptying room. Her heart still ached slightly, but she masked it behind a calm expression. That's when Gorya approached her, brushing hair behind her ear as she walked over.

"Lia, you're here. Where were you? Have you been fine? I was worried sick about you," Gorya said, concern lacing her voice.

Lia turned to her with a soft smile. "I just needed... some fresh air."

Gorya stared at her for a second longer, clearly unconvinced, but she didn't press. "Well... how have you been? We haven't talked in a while, you know."

"I'm fine," Gorya replied with a quick smile, but Lia didn't miss the slight tremble in her voice.

"You sure? How are you handling the whole Thyme and Lita thingy?" Lia asked again, her voice gentle.

There was a flicker of pain in Gorya's eyes before she forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. In fact, Lita is a nice girl. She's also my friend now. Yeah... you should also meet her. She's nice."

Lia nodded slowly. "Sure... I will."

Gorya took a small breath and glanced over her shoulder. "I should head back. Need to help wrap up everything."

Lia gave her an understanding nod as she watched her walk away. But just before she disappeared into the crowd of staff, Lia turned her gaze down, her smile fading slightly.

Only I am not the one struggling... Gorya is also struggling a lot.
I just hope she doesn't make a wrong choice because of everything.

And with that, Lia turned away, her thoughts heavier than ever.

As Gorya left, she finally stepped outside.

The banquet was still going on inside. Her coworkers could handle it now-she had done her part. The food had been served, the trays refilled, the guests satisfied. It was over.

She sat down on the entrance steps, her hands covering her face. Her body was still, but her mind was a storm.

The washroom.

Bua's cold smirk.
Mimi's cruel giggle.
The scorpions skittering on the floor.
That moment-that moment-when her life had flashed before her eyes, when she thought this is how it ends.
