She arrived at her workplace, setting her bag down before tying her apron. The evening shift had just begun, and she was ready to immerse herself in work.
Then, her manager walked up to her, holding out a folded piece of paper. "A boy came yesterday morning and told me to give this to you."
She frowned, taking the paper. "A boy?"
Her manager smirked. "Looks like someone will soon get a boyfriend," he teased before walking away.
She ignored his words and carefully unfolded the paper. Her eyes widened as she saw a detailed portrait of herself-one from the beach day where she had taken pictures and another from the rooftop, her camera in hand.
Her lips curled into a small smile as she immediately recognized the artist. Ren.
At the bottom of the paper, a handwritten note read:
"Stay strong and don't get in trouble. This time, I won't be there to help."
She traced her fingers over the sketches, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. Ren had drawn her. He had noticed her in those moments.
She chuckled softly at the note. "Idiot," she mumbled, shaking her head, but her smile remained.
Folding the paper carefully, she placed it in her pocket. She had been feeling a little off since he left, but this... this made her feel like he was still looking out for her, even from afar.
Taking a deep breath, she went back to work, a little lighter than before.
She arrived at school, making her way toward the lockers. After grabbing her books, she turned toward Gorya's locker, planning to meet up with her.
As she got closer, she noticed the three mean girls cornering Gorya. Their voices were sharp and demanding.
"Speak now. What have you done?" one of them sneered.
Her brows furrowed in confusion. She stepped closer, about to ask what was going on when a voice suddenly cut through the tension, silencing everyone.
"It's just that Gorya and I are dating. Does anyone have a problem?"
She froze. What?!
Her eyes snapped to the source of the voice-Thyme.
Gorya, equally shocked, immediately protested. "Are you nuts? What date-"
But Thyme cut her off smoothly. "And I've canceled Gorya's red card."
Her shock doubled.
But then, his next words made her tilt her head in complete confusion.
