She looked up, eyes wide and brimming with tears, to see-MJ.

Her breath caught in her throat as relief washed over her like a wave. "MJ!" she cried out.

"Lia!" he responded instantly, eyes filled with panic as he took a step forward.

But she quickly shouted, "MJ, no! There are scorpions!"

He froze mid-step, eyes darting to the floor. That's when he saw them-small, dark, and deadly, crawling dangerously close to where she was crouched. Without hesitation, MJ took off his coat and began swatting them away, forcing a path between them.

"Hang on!" he said firmly, his tone sharp with determination.

He reached out, and Lia didn't hesitate. She grabbed his hand tightly, allowing him to pull her down safely. As soon as they were out, MJ slammed the washroom door shut behind them.

And then-without a word-she lunged into his arms, hugging him tightly, clinging to him like he was the only solid thing left in her crumbling world.

MJ held her close, one arm around her waist, the other gently cradling the back of her head. She trembled in his embrace, soft sobs escaping into his chest as her fists clutched his shirt.

"Shh... it's okay," he whispered softly, slowly stroking her hair. "You're safe now."

She nodded weakly against him, her voice barely audible. "Thank you... MJ..."

His jaw clenched, eyes darkening-not with fear, but with fury.

Whoever did this to her... would regret it.

MJ didn't let go of her for a while-not until he felt the shaking in her shoulders ease, not until her sobs quieted down into soft breaths. Even then, he didn't say anything. He didn't need to. His silence was heavy, protective.

Finally, Lia pulled away slightly, just enough to look up at him. Her cheeks were wet, her eyes red, and yet she managed a tiny, broken smile.

"Sorry..." she whispered, "for crying like a baby."

MJ shook his head slowly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "You weren't crying like a baby," he said. "You were crying like someone who's been through hell."

She looked down, swallowing hard. "I didn't think anyone would come for me..."

"Well, that's dumb," MJ said bluntly. "You think I'd let you just disappear?"

She gave a short, breathy laugh, and MJ smiled-relieved to see a little light return to her eyes.

"Come on," he said softly, wrapping his coat around her shoulders. "Let's get you out of here. You need water... maybe a place to breathe."
