As the car disappeared down the long driveway, Ren stood still, his hands in his pockets, watching until the taillights faded into the night. He barely noticed when Mira walked past him, heading toward the entrance.
She stopped just before the door and turned back. “You’re awfully quiet, Ren.”
He blinked, finally shifting his gaze to her. “Just thinking.”
Mira gave a soft hum, walking back toward him. “About her?”
Ren didn’t answer immediately. His eyes trailed back to the road, a flicker of concern still in them.
“She shouldn’t be going home this late,” he finally said.
Mira studied him for a moment, then smiled knowingly. “That’s why I sent my driver with her.”
He nodded, but there was still something unreadable in his expression. Mira tilted her head. “You’re worried about her.”
Ren sighed, running a hand through his hair. “She’s not like the others.”
Mira raised an eyebrow. “You mean she’s not like the girls who chase after you?”
He shook his head. “That’s not what I meant.”
Mira smirked, crossing her arms. “Then what do you mean, Ren?”
He exhaled, shifting his gaze to the night sky. “She’s… different.”
Mira’s expression softened. “Different how?”
Ren hesitated before finally saying, “She doesn’t belong in a place like this.”
Mira chuckled at that, shaking her head. “And yet, here she is. Just like Gorya.”
Ren didn’t say anything, but Mira could tell he was thinking about it.
“You keep helping her,” she pointed out. “Even when you say she shouldn’t be here.”
Ren sighed. “She keeps getting caught up in things she shouldn’t.”
Mira gave him a knowing look. “And you keep pulling her out.”
He didn’t reply, but Mira saw the way his fingers curled slightly in his pockets, as if he was holding something back.
“Come on,” she said, turning toward the entrance. “MJ and Kavin will start teasing you if we don’t go back in soon.”
Ren lingered for a moment before finally following her inside, his mind still elsewhere.
