Chapter 12

Tomorrow would be the semester break. We would have an entire month of break. This is great. I plan to use the break to head to Orario. I don't know if the world's time would be halted or not, which is the reason I have yet to leave. Although one month might not be enough, it seems once you buy the ticket, you can go back anytime. If one trip is not enough, I can always go back again.

Today was a fruitful endeavour. It was a great haul, even if I used quite a bit of my EP, which I have been saving in case of emergency. I mean, the miscellaneous section has a lot of items that can save you in certain situations. Some of the items I am familiar with.

Looking at what is useful, I bought [Auto Loot], which would help me in the world of Danmachi when I head to the dungeon. [Map] is good since the description says that it would auto-map the entire world with my magic. [Talaria] is good, but I can make a spell to let me fly. [Reishukaku] would be a good gift to the others, but it is a bit bulky. [Milano] and [Benatar] are good for transportation, but I have no use for them at the moment.

I guess that should be it for now. As I closed the status, Ruby and the others were staring at me. I stare back. Ruby could no longer hold it in and shouted.

"H-How did you do all those things? And how come people are talking as if what they saw was entirely different from what happened!" said Ruby. She heard people talk about how kick-ass she was when in reality, she got her ass kicked seven ways to Sunday!

"That's because I did not want to let them see what really happened inside the Bounded Field," I replied.

"What is a bounded field?" asked Weiss. She was curious about how I did what I did.

"Think of it like a boundary point. Take this circle, for example. The boundary is the edge of the circle; if you step inside it, you are subjected to the alarms, traps, and whatnot that has been set up. What I did was I created a Bounded Field within the arena and changed its diameter as I saw fit. I also added more traps as the fight went on. One such effect of the Bounded Field I created was those outside the field would see what I wanted them to see," I replied.

"That still doesn't explain how you accomplished any of this. Aura is not capable of creating something like this. And those blue vein-like protection you have is dubious enough to be called Aura in the first place," said Blake. She was sharp. She was not taking anything I said at face value.

"Oh? And how else would you explain it?" I said. I knew they would speculate, and I wanted to hear what they would come up with.

"Oh! Those things you talked about sound just like those from fairy tales! A hero capable of creating magic barriers! A sorcerer cpaable to create a blast of energy from magic. A martial artist that has innate abilities that can harden the skin to make one's self invulnerable! Maybe it is magic!" said Ruby. She was excited. She has always wanted to meet someone who could use magic.

"How ridiculous and childish! There is no such thing as magic! They are nothing but fairy tales. Nothing more, nothing less," said Weiss. I did not know what she was thinking, but I could see how pained she looked when she talked about magic and fairy tales.

"Hey! Magic is not childish! The four Maidens are so cool! They can control different elements like fire, water, earth, lightning, and ice without the use of Dust! How is that childish? If we had that kind of power, we can finally eliminate all the Grimm!" said Ruby. I can see her imagining something like using her semblance with the use of fire magic to burn all the Grimm.

"You said it yourself, Ruby. If such power did exist, then the Grimm would have been long exterminated!" said Weiss. She was not going to listen to Ruby's nonsense.

"That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Just because Grimm still does not mean all the Grimm would be exterminated. We don't even know where Grimm comes from. All we know, Grimm could be a manifestation of all humanity and faunus-kind's evil given a physical form. If that were the case, then for as long as we all have evil in us, the Grimm would never end," I said. I mean, I know where it comes from, but I currently have no means to purify the entire thing. That is one of the projects I am currently working on.

Weiss, Ruby and the others were contemplating. It was Nora who broke the silence after a good long while.

"So? Is it magic? Because you never denied Ruby's claim," said Nora. Everyone looked at her with a deadpan look. I merely gave her a pat on the head, which she enjoyed greatly.

"Yes, it is magic, Nora," I told her. I then demonstrated it by creating flames without any Dust and then solidifying the flames by turning them into ice, followed by turning that ice flame sculpture into earth.

"What the F***!" said Weiss. She was gobsmacked. She could not explain how I was able to do what I did since even Dust could not freeze fire.

I laughed at her and left the room. It was hilarious, to say the least. I was going to enjoy this. I left the place since I knew they were all heading to their homes today, except for Ren and Nora, who would be heading to the orphanage on Mistral, where they lived for a while so that they could help around.
