Upon setting foot inside the Hostess of Fertility, I was met with a rush of warmth, not from the pressing of bodies within the crowded room but from the unmistakable liveliness that filled every corner. The air was thick with scents of roasting meat and freshly baked bread mingling with the yeasty tang of ale and the occasional sharp spice of something stronger.
Conversation and laughter echoed through the establishment, rising and falling in waves, punctuated by the clatter of plates and the thunk of heavy mugs meeting wooden tables. At one of the corners of the tavern, commanding attention by sheer presence alone, sat a group so at ease in their surroundings that they might have considered the place their own.
Their table, long and already burdened with half-empty plates and mugs in various states of neglect, was the stage for lively discussion, the kind that required wild gestures and the occasional dramatic retelling of some past event.
A red-haired woman lounged back in her chair, her grin wide and full of mischief, her drink raised as though in constant celebration. She spoke loudly, as one accustomed to being heard. Seated beside her was a blonde girl who listened in silence, offering no interruptions, no remarks of her own.
Across from them, an Amazonian woman let out a laugh so rich and full that it turned heads, her enthusiasm boundless as she slammed a fist upon the table, rattling silverware and nearly toppling a mug in the process.
The elf beside her barely reacted beyond a tired sigh, lifting her drink to her lips with the resignation of a woman who had seen this countless times before. Whatever words she offered in response, they were drowned beneath another burst of laughter, her wisdom, it seemed, forever lost upon her companions.
What the hell is up with me? Why am I thinking in such a weird tone? It sounds so posh and robotic. Anyway, then I entered the Hostess of Fertility, which was very loud and smelled of all the food that was served. On my right, when I entered, I saw the Loki Familia sitting in their seat when Bell ran away in the show.
Huh? Since Bell did not become a tomato in this world, I wonder what they would be talking about? If this were the same situation in the show. I mean, the Monster Feria would be soon, and many advertisements for the event were being shown. A festival to make people more comfortable with the idea of monsters, destroyed due to the idiocy of Freya. It was supposed to help with the co-existence with the Xenos, but no, she just had to cause an incident.
I took my seat in one of the bar stools. I am alone, after all. It would have been a waste for me to pick a table that is meant for two or more people. I have only taken my seat a moment ago, yet I already had someone approaching me to take my order.
"Welcome to Hostess of Fertility. What can I get you?" she asked. It was Ryuu with her dyed green hair.
"Right. I don't even know what you have in your menu," I replied. She then apologised and gave me a menu. There was not a lot of food, but the selection of ale was plenty.
"Hmm...I'll take your pasta dish," I told me. I even returned the menu.
"It shouldn't be long," said Ryuu. She bowed and headed to the kitchen to hand over the order.
As I waited for my food to arrive, I was listening to the conversation happening in the pub. There were many whispers about people who died when they attempted to hunt the Mega Goliath before I took it down. Poor sods, they overestimated themselves. Yikes! That's why I like being cautious and being in a form called CONSTANT VIGILANCE!
It was hear that I heard someone talking loudly about how I killed the Mega Goliath. Of course, the person talking was Bete. He was sour about not being able to beat the monster. Yet, rumours about an unknown person killing it was humiliating to him.
