I was heading to Hephaestus Manor when I received a new message from my Unlimited Enhancement. It seems I have new missions available. For some reason, I am being assigned missions to disrupt other worlds, or in this case, canon events.
Save the Witch – B-rank
Gain access to the world of Type-Moon. During the fifth Holy Grail War, a miserable witch yearns for a second chance at life after being betrayed by Jason of the Argonauts. Grant her the opportunity for the life she desires. Rewards: [Rule Breaker], [Harpe (Medusa)] and [Tsubame Gaeshi].
Heaven's Feel – B-rank
Saving Medea is not enough. If one is in Type-Moon during the Fifth Holy Grail War, then saving the innocent girl known as Matou Sakura is a must. Save Matou Sakura and Eliminate Makiri Zouken. Rewards: [Hiyoku Senyou], [Caliburn], and [Gae Bolg].
Disruptor of Events – A-rank
Due to your penchant for disrupting events from the canonical timeline, this mission has been assigned. Disrupt the timeline of an A-rank world. Rewards: [?], [Magia Erebea] and [Re-Taekwondo].
More missions are available after completion.
Well. It seems my tendency to want to make changes has become a mission for me. I mean, it is in my favour since it was what I was planning to do in the first place. But to think I would be given a world such as Type-Moon is quite shocking.
As I was reading the newly received missions, I heard a ding-like noise in my mind. This sound is caused by my [Mind Partitioning] when completing the task of learning a new spell. It is a shame that there are no more spell formulae, just theory, which slows down my spell learning. However, with the theory, I can create my own version of it. Although I have yet to create my own, it is very dangerous.
Looking at the spell, it was one I was looking forward to learn since it is used to dispel curses.
[Penerisc – F-rank]
A spell that dispels curses and their magic formulas.
The F-rank alone has a great effect. This made me smile. I then did not hesitate to increase the rank of the spell. It would be a spell that I could use in the future. A spell so useful that using it would be something I would surely require. Let's go with that, and not because I want to get rid of the curse, which I felt lingering in Hephaestus' eye. That's definitely not the reason.
[Penerisc – A-rank]
A spell that dispels curses and their magic formulas. There is a 10% chance to successfully dispel a curse with Divine Nature or Satanic Nature.
Ten percent? That's all? So, how about bringing it to S-rank? Would that increase its overall chance to dispel curses of such nature? Well, only one way to find out.
[Penerisc – S++-rank]
A spell that dispels curses and their magic formulas. There is a 50% chance of successfully dispelling a curse with Divine Nature or Satanic Nature. 10% chance to return the curses to their caster.
I think I might have gone overboard and used all of my EP just to get it to S++-rank, but I think it is worth it. This is also the very first skill that I brought to such a high rank. I guess this should be good enough. I could use it multiple times if needed.
After all that, I arrived at Hephaestus Manor without delay. But what is this I am feeling? Looking at the building, there was something in the air that made me anxious. That's not a sensation I have felt since my reincarnation. Shaking off the feeling, I entered the building and headed to the room I knew Hephaestus would be in.
As I opened the door, I saw her seated in her chair behind the desk, looking at me with an intense glare. It felt as if she were judging me, but that seemed illogical. Why would she do something like that now of all times? Eh? Again, with this formal language. Illogical? Bleh! Maybe it is caused by my anxiousness.
"Jaune...I need to speak to you. This is very important for me," said Hephaestus. Wow, this is a really serious situation. Her tone is making that very obvious.
I was going to say something, but I was cut off as she continued to speak.
"I know that you have been interested to see what is beneath my eye patch. Truth be told, I created the test to delay you as much as possible since I never wanted to let you see the ugliness beneath it, but a friend of mine has told me that it would be best to show it to you. So, that is what I planned to do. Come, let us sit on the couch," said Hephaestus. Eh? No more tests? I mean, that's a good thing. But I have been enjoying the challenges that she has been putting me in. However, I get to finally see it.
Hephaestus and I sat opposite each other so that I could have a much better view. For some reason, my heart was beating rapidly, and sometimes, when I see her lips quiver as she hesitates to take off the patch, my heart skips a beat. Damn! I really have a thing for her, and it doesn't seem to be just a passing fancy. Alright! After this, I am definitely going to ask her out on a date!
As the patch was removed, I felt bad for her. It was there, a curse on her eye that not only causes her face to be continuously disfigured, but it is also causing her immense pain. She tried to hide the pain she felt. I noticed how she winced when she removed the eye patch. Seeing this, I knew her eye patch was not only to hide what was beneath it, but to slow down the curse. Whoever created this curse they were spiteful.
Truth be told, I have never been truly in love with someone. But at this moment, I finally knew that I fell for her at first sight that day. I finally understand why I would do things that did not make sense. I could have been a blacksmith on my own, but the moment I saw her, I sought her out. I reached for her eye, and she tried to move away, but I smiled at her and she let me touch it.
"Do you mind if I try something?" I told her. She didn't know what to say since I did not flee from seeing her disfigurement, and now, I was touching it. She merely nodded.
I was happy that [Penerisc] was completed today, and I raised it to S++-rank. I do not regret it one bit that I used all my EP on that one spell. Taking a deep breath, I activated the spell. There was a golden light which penetrated the curse. It tried to destroy it, but it failed. Taking another deep breath, I tried it once again. Then again and again, and again.
I don't know how many times I tried it, but in the end, I was able to dispel the Divine Curse on her, and I saw the tears in her eyes. She was about to hug me, but I was not done. Yes, I was able to remove the curse, but it did nothing to help the disfigurement that was already done. Then, I just have to reverse it. I used [Ei Chael]. Slowly, her disfigurement started to disappear. As I completely reversed the damage, I fainted. Not before smiling since I heard a notification of the curse being rebounded to their casters.
