Saphron and Terra gazed at the goddess in the abode, unsure of how to act around her. There was an aura about her that diminished their sense of self. This feeling was likely due to the presence of Hephaestus' Arcanum at play. She was probably crafting something in her workshop with her Arcanum, as she had no concerns here in Remnant.
"Uhm...Jaune, is she the girlfriend you mentioned?" Saphron asked. She glanced at herself before turning back to Hephaestus, feeling diminutive.
"Es, could you tone it down a bit?" I asked Hephaestus. She likely forgot how others feel in her presence when her divinity is fully manifested, as I remain unaffected by it.
"I apologise. I overlooked the impact it has on others," Hephaestus remarked. She then pulled it back, prompting a sigh of relief from both Saphron and Terra.
"Let me introduce everyone. Es, this is my sister and her wife, Saphron and Terra. Sis, Terra, meet my girlfriend, Hephaestus. I hope you all get along," I said. Then, I lifted the little man in my hands and introduced him.
"This guy is Adrian, my son with Terra," I explained. Saphron and Terra stared at me like I had lost my mind. I realise that for some, revealing I have a child with my sister's wife might seem unusual, but we're discussing Hephaestus here.
Hephaestus took Adrian in my hands and cradled him in her arms. She was playing with him for a minute before she sat down beside me, while still playing with Adrian.
"He is adorable. Is he your son with Terra? You two create such cute babies," said Hephaestus. Saphron and Terra looked at the goddess as if she were insane. This just makes me laugh. Hephaestus's family is far more complex than the current situation suggests.
"Are you okay with that? This situation isn't viewed positively in our culture," Saphron asked. I understand her concern, but it also confuses me. I've looked into the laws of Remnant and know there are stranger relationships elsewhere. For instance, polygamy and incest are accepted in regions like Mistral and Vacuo, and she lived in Mistral, though in Argus, which is part of the Atlas region.
"Hmm...No, I'm not concerned about what others think. If they have problems with how things are run in our own home, they can either keep quiet or face the repercussions when they mess with us," Hephaestus stated. Given her experience with the curse, she had learned to disregard other people's nonsense. She then looked at me.
"Do they know?" Hephaestus inquired. I understood her concern, but I hadn't mentioned it to either of them yet.
"Not yet, but I intend to be open about it, especially since they will be living with us. That is, if you're okay with it," I responded. This information concerns her, and I also prefer not to discuss it with everyone.
This initiated a prolonged period of confusion for Saphron and Terra, but after we explained everything, they were only more bewildered and shocked. We first mentioned that Hephaestus is a goddess, then talked about my ability to travel to other worlds and spend seven months there, while only seven days passed in Remnant.
"There's just too much to take in... First, there's magic, then the ability to travel to different worlds, and you spend seven months in another world while only seven days pass here. Plus, you have a girlfriend who's a goddess with a family that's even more complicated than ours. I think I need to lie down for a minute to process all this," said Saphron. She wasn't the only one feeling overwhelmed by the information; Terra looked just as dazed.
I showed Terra and Saphron their room, but there wasn't a spot for Adrian. Therefore, I set up a crib for him in their room, and he appeared to enjoy his new bed. It took him just a minute to fall asleep; when I glanced at Saphron and Terra, I noticed they were sleeping as well. I quietly left the room and closed the door—today must have been overwhelming for them.
As I walked into my room, which also belongs to Hephaestus, I found her preparing the bed. Yes, we share the same bed, although we haven't gone all the way yet. I approached her from behind, wrapped my arms around her, and then gave her a kiss.
"So, what are your thoughts on my sister and her wife?" I asked Hephaestus, who knew details about my sister that I had shared before their introduction.
"Indeed, I can confidently confirm that what you said about her having feelings for you is accurate. Subtly, her wife also seems to have a thing for you," Hephaestus remarked. She shifted the blanket and got onto the bed, and I followed suit on the other side.
"I found that out earlier when they tried to mess with each other. Can you believe, my sister revealed to me that her wife masturbates to me," I informed Hephaestus.
"You know, if this continues, maybe your family drama would be able to catch up with my family's insane life," said Hephaestus. I faked a gasp and we both laughed. There is nothing worse than the Olympian family dynamics.
After talking, we went to bed.
...
A few days have gone by. Saphron and Terra have settled into their new home. While there are still moments when they feel intimidated by Hephaestus, as she is a goddess, this has decreased over the past few days and is expected to fade completely within a month.
It was now time for my departure to Beacon, as it is the start of the second semester. Cinder's arrival at Beacon is imminent. I have several strategies to reclaim the Maiden's power, but I believe a straightforward approach is the most efficient, as it requires less time contemplating her plan.
I might have splurged a little too much. I ended up buying both the Milano and Benetar from the [Mall]. Fortunately, I received all the information needed to operate both after the purchase. However, it features a highly advanced autopilot.
"Hmm...Where did you get something like this? I know Hephaestus is great at making things, but even she was baffled after seeing it, meaning she had nothing to do with it," said Terra. She was looking at both Benetar and Milano.
"Don't worry about it. I can acquire even more incredible things in the future that will amaze you. You should prepare yourself for these surprises, as they won't be stopping anytime soon," I told Terra. I wasn't exaggerating. Benetar and Milano aren't particularly remarkable. What truly stands out is the T.A.R.D.I.S. available for sale in the [Mall] under miscellaneous.
"When I initially met you, you were the timid younger brother of Saphron, but you've matured into a commendable young man. Now, you are among the most self-assured individuals I know, yet you remain humble about your abilities," Terra remarked. I appreciated her kind words with a smile.
"Thank you for the compliment," I replied to Terra. Over the past few days, we reached a consensus about relationships, but Hephaestus claimed she had dibs. Initially, Saphron and Terra were confused by her comments, but after they stepped into another room to discuss, they returned flushed and embarrassed. It's easy to guess the topic of their conversation, especially since they were gazing at me appreciatively.
"Oh, by the way, I realise you might not know how to fly the Milano, but I can teach you how to set the autopilot. This way, you won't have to take the bullhead to work every day. You can use it as your personal aircraft," I explained to Terra. Then, I demonstrated what she needed to understand about configuring the autopilot's destination.
After a few minutes, we were ready to leave. Before heading out, I gave Saphron and Hephaestus a goodbye kiss, knowing I couldn't come home every day, though I'll make the effort to visit every other day.
