I'm going to Cornwall in a few days and I won't have internet for the most of it so I'll try to post long chapters for a few days :)

"Dan we are here... Dannnnn... bear wake up"

Dan stretched and opened his eyes.
"I remember this place."

"I'm sure you do. Now come on let's go inside"

Phil grabbed Dans suitcase and walked up the path to his childhood home. A sense of comfort ran through his body as if to welcome him back .

"Come on Dan, your taking forever"

"Oh shush up Lester... my back hurts"
Dan laughed.

Dan stared at the living room. Nothing had changed since the last time he came here.. which was around 3 years ago when he had to go and meet Phil after Phils family holiday ended up giving the poor lion the flu.

"Don't just stand there dear, come inside" Phils mother chuckled.

It broke Dans train of thought almost instantly.

"Haha I was just taking everything in... thank you so much... you didn't have to."

"Anything to help out"

Phil came running down the stairs laughing.
"Mum.. you actually kept my room the same! Oh my god why didn't you change it into a spare room or something? Your so weird"

"I kept it so whenever you come back you can remember the memories... and so you didn't feel so far away."

"Aww mum" Phil ran over and engulfed his mother in a massive hug.
"I love you"

Dans eyes started to sting.
Don't cry Dan!
Stop being so stupid
Just because your parents hate you!
Maybe you should leave.. clearly no one wants you here!

"DAN!"

"Yh!.. oh sorry.. what did you want me for."

"Dan my dearest, why are you crying?"
Kathryn asked.

"Oh it's nothing. I'm thankful for you letting me stay... I can always get a hotel or something.."

"Why in the world would we make you stay at a hotel?! Dan your family... and we wouldn't shove a family member into some old grimy hotel."

Dan shrugged. He felt like he wasn't needed. What were parents going to do? What if they broke in?
He shook his head.
He was over thinking everything.

"So mum.."
Phil chirped up.
"Where will Dan and I sleep?"

"Oh.. about to that.. Me and your father were going to sleep on the sofa and then Dan can sleep in your bed and you can sleep in my bed."

Before Phil could say anything, Dan left his thoughts and joined in the conversation.

"Don't be silly Kathy... I can sleep on the sofa"
Mrs Lester had already done enough, And Dan wasn't going to kick her out of her own bed.

"Dan.. you deserve a good nights rest.. if you won't except my offer you and Phil may have to share a Bed.. that's up to both of you.. anyway I'm going to make some soup... you two can go and unpack."

"Ok.. thank you"

Dan and Phil raced up the stairs like they used to when he was visiting Phil during the summer holidays. Phils house was his only escape. He never wanted to go back home. His father was always heavily drunk and would always abuse him more in the holidays as the wounds had more time to heal. And his mother... his mother used to join in too.

"OH MY GOD DAN!! LOOK MY MUM KEPT MY OLD XBOX!! AND HALO IS HERE!! LETS SET IT UP"

"Yh... what do you think will happen?"

"What do you mean?"

"My parents... what if they get into our apartment?"

"Dan please don't overthink things.. look.. we have halo... we used to play this all the time.. your safe here.. we can unpack later"

"I'm assuming we are sharing a room then..." Dan hoped Phil would say yes. When he used to visit Phil, they used to secretly snuggle together while watching Winnie the Pooh on repeat.

"Sure"

"Ok"

An hour passed when Phils mum called Dan and Phil down for dinner.

They were tucking in when Phils mum brought up what exactly made them come round.

"So.. I enjoy the company and all but why the sudden want to stay around?"

"Erm mum probably not the best thing to sa-" Phil said.

"No it's fine Phil... how do I put it?
All those times I stayed round here in the holidays... I loved them.. because when I got back home, my mum and dad would abuse me..."

Kathy's eyes were watering up. How could such a beautiful boy go through so much?

"You don't have to carry on dear... I'm so sorry.."

"No it's fine... my dad's birthday is today and my mum wants me to come and see him... like I want to see my abusive parents eh?  They said Phil wasn't allowed to come.. not that I'd put him in that position anyway... and they said that if I didn't go...they would come to our house.. I was afraid of what they were going to do to Phil if he tried to involve himself.. so I broke down and told Phil everything.. and here we are."

Kathy's eyes were red with tears but Phil kept it all in. He was fidgeting a lot though.

"I wish you told us then"

"So do I... ah well you can't go back to the past can you?"

"I guess not.. I'll wash the dishes.. you two go upstairs and do whatever... don't stay up too late"

"Night mum"

"Night Kathy"

"Night boys"

They both ran up he stairs again to get ready for bed.
"Dan I'm going to get a quick shower.. do whatever.. you know where everything is"

"Yh k"

As soon as Phil left his room, Dans phone beeped.

Dan froze. He was putting Phil in danger. Yes Dans Parents didn't know where Phils parents live, but that doesn't stop them from finding Phil some other time.

As if on cue, Phil entered the room.

"Bear... what's up?"
