"As you can see, your grades have been lowering to what you have now on the recent test," She flipped over the test and Damian's eyes scanned over the page.
His eyes found the red mark at the top of the page. His brow furrowed.
"Huh? What? That cannot be right..." Damian mumbled, carefully taking the test in his own hands. He scanned his test, reading over the multiple teacher comments and re-reading his own writing.
Damian gaze travelled back up to the D- grade at the top of his page, staring at it sadly, the D- burning holes into his eyes.
How could I fail? Such a low mark? This is pathetic Damian. You absolute failure.
"As I was saying, it is not your fault but I would say that you should talk to your father before I do." The teacher cut into his thoughts. "Perhaps maybe look into a tutor? You can't drop out because you need Language Arts to get into university."
"I understand Mrs. I'll speak with my Father." Damian said evenly. The teacher nodded.
"Good, good. Take the test to show him." Damian nodded even though he desperately wanted to burn the damn thing. "Thank you for stopping by have a nice weekend Mister Wayne." The teacher said dismissively.
Damian waved goodbye and exited the classroom. He kept staring at the test as he walked down the halls.
Failure. Surprise, surprise. Just when you thought things were going well you stupid moron.
"Hiya Dami!" A voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
Damian glanced up and was met with a quick kiss on the lips.
"Hello beloved." Damian responded, fumbling to shove the paper into his bag.
Jon noticed.
"What's that?" He questioned.
"It's just an assignment I was looking over." Damian lied. Jon shrugged, though he felt as if something was off.
"If you say so... ready for tonight?" He asked. "It's gonna be so fun! I've chosen a movie and me and my mom baked cookies yesterday!" Jon said happily.
"Sounds lovely." Damian responded, forcing a small smile.
"My mom's gonna pick us up at the coffee shop. Wanna grab something while we wait?" Jon asked.
"Sure beloved."

"So I was thinking we could binge at least half the Harry Potter movies." Jon said, sipping his latte. Damian rolled his eyes.
"Nerd."
"Hey it's either that or Mama Mia. Take your pick."
"I'll take Harry Potter thanks." Jon chuckled. He noticed his lover's gaze travel out the window. A frown tugged at his lips.
Jon reached forward and held one of Damian's hands in one of his own. Damian glanced at him.
"Hey princess, are you sure you're alright? You seem off, upset even." Jon commented rubbing Damian's knuckles with his thumb.
"I'm fine beloved, you needn't worry about me." Damian waved it off, giving Jon's hand a squeeze.
Jon pursed his lips not believing the other. But it was a public setting and he knew better than to push. He'd ask later.
"If you say so. Dames I'm gonna use the bathroom I'll be right back." Jon said as he stood. Damian nodded and sipped his tea.
He waited until the other was out of sight before pulling the test out of his bag.
He stared at the massive D- at the top of the page, holding his head in his free hand. He sighed heavily, the D- seeming to mock him.
"It's not even hard. You've been speaking English for years... what the hell is wrong with you, you failure-of-a-Wayne? Moron..." He mumbled, rubbing his eyes with one hand.
He felt the paper sliding from his hands. He glanced up but it was too late, Jon stood over him, holding and examining the paper.
"Hey! Give me that!" He exclaimed, standing up, glad the two had chosen a table in the back.
"Is this why you're so upset Damian?" Jon asked.
"Give it back Jon!" He hissed.
"Damian..." Jon said in a tone that meant: 'talk to me'. Damian finally snatched the test back, shoving it deep into his bag.
"Let's go Jon, your mother will be here any minute." Damian said, grabbing his bag and standing. Jon glared and grabbed the other by the waist, dragging him to the bathroom.
"Let go!" Damian whisper shouted as Jon pulled him into the bathroom and stood in front of the door.
"Is it why you're upset Damian?" Jon asked. Damian huffed.
"Can we just-!"
"Nope. Not until you tell me."
"Idiot."
"I'll wait."
It was moments like this Damian hated Jon's stubbornness.
"Oh fine. Fine! It's exactly what it looks like, a shitty grade thats the lowest I've ever gotten." Damian huffed, avoiding eye contact. "Fucking disappointing everyone. I've been speaking English for years, I don't know what my problem is!"
"Oh Damian, you need to stop putting so much pressure on yourself! You're not disappointing anyone." Jon said sadly. "It's absolutely amazing that you're fluent in another language, nothing to be ashamed of. We're all not good at something. I suck at math." Jon said, trying to comfort the other.
Jon moved forward with open arms. Damian sighed and fell into the awaiting arms, pressing his face into Jon's chest.
"No one is disappointed Damian, you're so smart and have accomplished so much. I'll help you okay?" Jon said softly.
Damian nodded. "Hasananaan." He whispered.
Jon smirked. "I love you..." He whispered. Damian blushed.
"iinaa ahbk 'aydaan Jun." He mumbled.
