Jon's pov
"Thanks for the food beloved." Damian said, planting a quick kiss on my cheek. I smiled.
"Anything for you Dami." I responded as we walked away from the restaurant holding hands.
"I thought next we could go to the fair. I heard it's less busy at night and all the lights look super pretty." I said. Damian nodded.
"Sounds good." He said. We walked towards the fair that was located near the beach making small talk on the way there.
"Beloved, you're shaking a little," Damian commented. "Is everything okay?"
I swallowed.
"Of course Dami. I must've just not gotten enough sleep last night." I lied. Damian gave me a quizzical glance before dropping the topic. He squeezed my hand.
"As long as you're okay beloved." He responded.
In reality, I was nervous. I had sprung this date on Damian almost last minute because I'd been distant for a little while. I've been distant because I've been thinking. I really want to, and I mean really want to marry Damian. But we're both only sixteen and that's too young.
So I've decided tonight I'll give him a promise ring.
Steph, Cass and Babs all helped me look for a ring for over two hours before I decided on one. It was a little expensive for me, but I honestly didn't care. If it's for Damian, anything is worth the price.
The ring is a simple gold band with four small crystals embedded into it. In the middle of those crystals is a small sapphire gemstone -the same colour of my eyes. Then right beside that gem, is a emerald green one, the same colour as Damian's eyes.
But as I said, I'm so dam nervous. I'm scared he'll reject me or that he'll be scared thinking that our relationship is moving too fast.
My thoughts were cut off as a warm pair of lips were planted on mine.
"Beloved, your spacing out again." Damian said, pulling away from my lips.
I blinked before blushing slightly. "S-sorry Dami." I said sheepishly. Damian scoffed.
"It doesn't matter, we're here." He said. I glanced up. The sky was loosing its light, maybe about an hour or two from sunset. I made note of that to take Damian to the beach at the sunset.
The fair looked super pretty with the colourful lights strung everywhere. There wasn't as much noise as there would be in the day, but there was still noise.
"Let's go Dami!" I exclaimed, pulling him forward. I paid for our tickets and we entered the fair.
I watched as Damian gazed around at everything. His eyes reflected the lights strung up everywhere, as well as showing a small glimmer of excitement. He caught me staring at him and smirked.
"Take a picture. It lasts longer beloved." He teased. I blushed.
"Whatever. Let's go enjoy some games!" I said. Damian nodded and we walked off to the game area.
~Time Skip~
"Can we go on the Ferris Wheel? Please! The last ride I promise!" I begged excitedly. Damian chuckled.
"Sure beloved." He said. I smiled widely as we walked towards the Ferris wheel. Over the span of an hour and a half, we'd gone on countless rides, played a few games and won a few prizes. We'd also gotten dessert -me getting an icecream cone and Damian getting a doughnut-.
We'd pawned off all our prizes to disappointed little kids except for two. One of them being a stuffed fox I won for Damian and the other being a stuffed cat he'd won for me.
We made it to the front of the line but the operator stopped us.
"Excuse me boys." He said, eyeing our interlocking hands. I frowned slightly. "Do you happen to be a couple?" He asked. I glanced at Damian who was stone faced.
"Yes we are. Got a problem with that?" He snapped. The ride operator narrowed his brown eyes.
"A bit. I'm sorry but you're distracting people's kids from having a good time. I'll have to ask you to leave." He said.
"How on earth are we 'distracting people's kids'?" I said defensively. The operator sighed.
"With your display of affection. Most folks don't approve of this sorta love and says it bothers their kids." He said bluntly. I glared.
"Excuse me, but do you know who my father is? He would not stand for this behaviour." Damian said. The operator rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah, you're one of Bruce Wayne's kids. What-f*ckin-ever f*ggot." He said. Damian's hand went numb in mine and his face fell blank. I was pissed now.
"What the hell did you just call him?" I shouted. People were starting to complain about the wait now.
"You heard me. Your little boyfriend is nothing more than a rich, snobby, bratty, disgusting, f*ggot." The operator hissed. I clenched my free fist.
"Jon lets just go." Damian whispered.
"No Damian. We're going on that ride and not going to be stopped because of our sexual orientation." I said. Damian looked at the ground and stood closer to me.
He's gotten sensitive to name-calling after what's been happening to both of us in school after our relationship went public.
"Sir please leave, you're causing a distraction." The operator said. Before I could say anything, Damian tugged on my arm.
"Jon please. I want to leave." He whispered. I looked down at him. He was on the verge of tears, aggressively trying to blink them back. My face softened.
"Let's go then Dami." I said. I glared at the park operator as we exited the ride's line.
I looked up.
Almost sunset.
Should I still go through with this? Damian's in such a vulnerable state right now. One more thing will send him over the edge at this point.
"Let's go to the beach Damian." I said, anger still evident in my tone.
We exited the park and walked down to the shoreline in silence. I led my smaller boyfriend to a more isolated area close to a cluster of rocks. We sat down on the sand, looking out towards the water.
"J-Jon-" Damian whispered before he began crying. I wrapped him in a tight embrace, one hand around his body, the other on the back of his head, combing through his hair.
"Shh, shh, it's okay Dami... it's okay princess... I love you... shh, it's okay..." I whispered.
Damian wept into my shoulder for a little while longer, I cooed soft words to him all the while, assuring him that he'll be okay.
I closed my eyes, resting my chin on Damian's head, still stroking through his hair. The anger that has bubbled up in my chest began to fade out as Damian calmed down.
I pondered the promise ring idea further whole I waited for Damian to calm.
"Dami? Princess are you okay now?" I asked softly. Damian nodded, his face still pressed into my shoulder.
"Jon?" Damian looked up at me. I hummed in response. "I love you." He whispered, cupping my jaw and kissing me on the lips quickly.
I kissed back, making the decision to go through with the promise ring subject.
Damian pecked the corner of my mouth. I smiled. My hands we shaking again. Just calm down Jon. It'll be okay. I told myself.
"Damian." I said hesitantly. Damian hummed looking up at me.
"The reason I sprung this date on you is so I could ask you something." I admitted. Damian raised an eyebrow.
"And what might that be?" He questioned.
I swallowed.
"Damian, I've known you for six years now. We've been dating for three of those years and they've been the best years of my life. I love you so much. So much that I'd do anything for you. I want to love you for the rest of my god damn life. You're so precious and beautiful even though you may not think it. Right now, we're young, but I was wondering if one day, in the future, if you Damian Thomas Wayne, would do the honours of marrying me?" I said, holding the ring in between my thumb and pointer finger.
Damian's face broke into a wide smile. He laughed softly.
"Yes! Of course I'll marry you Jon!" He exclaimed before kissing me passionately.
I kissed back, wrapping my arms around the smaller's waist. Damian cupped my jaw on both hands, tilting his head to deepen the kiss.
I slid my tongue across his bottom lip and he opened his mouth slightly. I explored the smaller's hot mouth while he moved his hands to loop around my neck.
We parted after a minute, faces flushed and panting for breath. Our foreheads were pressed together.
"Of course I will beloved." Damian said happily. I smiled and held his hand. I slipped the ring on his ring finger before bringing his hand to my lips and kissing his knuckles.
"I love you Dami and I can't wait to marry you."

Do y'all have any ideas based off of Damian and Jon dealing with a homophobic scenario? Let me know!
