The chief of police droned on about the information they've gathered on the case thus far. It wasn't anything new that you hadn't read in the file last night. You tried to pay attention, but his boring voice made it hard to focus. Pen in hand you absentmindedly began doodling on the notepad next to you. Drawing random sketches that had nothing to do with what was happening.
"Miss L/N."
Your hand froze and you looked up, eyes connecting with the policeman standing in the front of the room. The silence was deafening as everyone glanced at you and then back at the chief.
"Uh, sir?" You weren't sure what he had just said before he called you out.
"I understand you know the art of mixing drinks. A mixologist if you will?"
Your eyebrow rose, not sure why he was asking you this. "Yeah?"
Joe kicked you under the table, "Yes." He corrected you. You gave him a look, was he really treating you like a child right now? "She acquired the skill for a job in Russia." He answered for you when you didn't say anything more.
"Excellent, then this will work out perfectly. The supposed ringleader of this organization and his cronies frequent a certain club. And that exact club is hiring for a new bartender. We want you to get close to them, people will start talking, especially if they trust the person serving them drinks. It's a pretty exclusive club, only well-known people have access, it's got burlesque shows and what not." He kept rambling on about this place as you sat there waiting for him to finish talking. "Anyway, is that something you think you can handle?"
"As long is no one puts me on the fucking stage I think I'll be fine." Your voice deadpan.
"Language," Joe spoke as he swiftly gave you another kick under the table. You were moments away from fighting him.
"Right. Once you can get some incriminating evidence that's when you come in." His eyes turning towards Bakugou and Fujimoto. "But before any of that we need some surveillance. There are a few places we have narrowed down that could be their base. We need your help to figure out which place is which and then we can start making arrests. But until then you need to put up a front. Make it seem like we have no leads."
He turned back to you before he spoke again, "Before we get started, we've set up an interview for you. You just need to get hired and we'll be ready to go."
Your eyes glazed over slightly as you searched the future, looking back up at him you leaned back in your chair, "Consider it already done."
"Great! We'll dismiss for the day; I'll keep in contact with you all in the weeks to come." He gathered his things up moving to leave, a few officers joining him.
Once they were gone you shoved Joe, "Enough with the kicking, I've got delicate shins."
He shook his head with a sigh, "Then stop acting like a child."
"I'm only acting like a child because you all think I need some kind of babysitter." You retorted, arms crossed, acting more like a child then before.
"Well, start acting like an adult and then maybe I can go back to my desk job." He picked up his papers, tapping them against the table to align them before he put them in his briefcase.
You opened your mouth to speak again but someone cut you off.
"Um, I'm sorry to interrupt, but I was told to show you the office you'll be using for now." It was Fujimoto, looking timid as ever as he stood before you, arms folded behind his back.
"Right, let's go," Joe stood up, offering him his hand, "Joe Garcia," he then pointed at you, telling him your name, "But I'm sure you already knew that."
