It couldn't necessarily be called a plan, but the idea you envisioned just might do the trick. You took it step by step and unfortunately you couldn't share most of the information with Kat, not with the possibility that Dabi was listening to your every word. Getting up from your spot on the ground, you searched for the one item that you had been able to save from your now nonexistent house. Surprisingly, Dabi had let the camera stay with you and he left it near the rickety looking cot against the wall. You reached for it with trembling hands and brought it back to Katsuki, who had been watching you with a curious look.
"I don't mean to doubt you, but how is this going to help exactly?" He questioned.
You couldn't quiet look him in the eyes as you lifted the item in your grip. "I promise to get you another one," you rushed before you tossed the camera to the floor.
Pieces of the broken lens and plastic flew across the room and you quickly dropped to your knees and began sifting through the small fragments still intact. Katsuki didn't have the chance to protest and he bit his tongue to keep himself in check. He didn't want to risk tipping Dabi off about what you both were up to and if it meant you had a chance to escape, he would let this slide.
"Perfect!" You exclaimed, plucking a slim metal wire attached to the shell of the camera.
"You didn't have a bobby pin or some shit?" He muttered as you slipped your hands through the bars. You ignored him and instead of acknowledging his question, you looked for the manual latch to unlock the cuffs.
Your heart sputtered at a nervous rhythm and your stomach twisted until you finally heard the soft click. Slowly the handcuffs slipped off and you carefully placed them on the ground. There was a brief pause as the realization of what was about to happen settled in. Katsuki was the first to move, he ran to the sliding cell door and even though he wanted to blow this place sky high for a second time, he knew that action would have major repercussions.
Kat placed his palm to the doors handle and let off a blast that destroyed the lock. If Dabi wasn't aware of what you two were planning, he was now. Katsuki had your cell door opened within seconds and without warning he snatched you by the waist and locked you in his arms. His lips found yours in a harsh kiss and you all but forgot about the plan at stake. This should have been the segue into forgiveness. Into a moment where you both could talk things out and everything would be okay. You wished you could have stayed here like this, you both knew there was a real possibility this could be the last kiss you shared, but you had bigger things to worry about right now.
"Kat," you mumbled against him. "We need to go."
"Right," he breathed, breaking away from you. "I just... we'll talk about it later."
He shook his head, clearing out anything that didn't have to do with getting the hell out of here. Setting you back on the ground he grabbed your wrist and tugged you toward the open door.
"Wait!" You blurted, before going back to the broken pieces on the floor. Searching for the right piece, you pulled out the film and shoved it into your pocket. Katsuki latched onto your hand and didn't give you a choice in the matter as he dragged you out the door.
"What's the plan here?" He grumbled as you led the way down the hall towards the exit. "You know I hate when you leave me in the dark."
"I'm kinda making it up as we go," you admitted reluctantly. Abruptly you turned down another hall and seemingly opened a door at random that contained a staircase inside.
"And I hate when you do that too," he huffed under his breath, but he let you continue on with this hasty and not well thought out plan.
You sprinted as fast as you could with Katsuki following close behind you and he nearly tripped over you a few times as you turned and weaved through the maze like bunker. Both of your footsteps reverberated off the steel walls as you finally reached the last hallway that would lead to the ground above. An intense feeling of unease and nostalgia swirled in your stomach as you looked up the ladder to the small hatch hanging over you. Memories of your old dreams and visions sprang to the forefront of your mind. That past felt nonexistent, so much so that you could hardly believe it had been Katsuki you feared losing in this very spot. Both you and Kat had made it through this situation before, but now it felt like the stakes were even higher. You were sure that Seth would love to meet your kids, yet this wasn't how you wanted that to happen.
