Over and over things continued to come to an end and there was nothing for you to do, but sit back and watch. You weren't sure how long you sat on the ground before Joe came looking for you. He gazed down at you with an unreadable expression that didn't give you a clue as to how much he knew. But if he had heard any of the yelling coming through your office, well it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to put it all together.

"You were taken off the case," he wasn't asking it like a question and you had already known, but he apparently had some need to tell you verbally. "Gather your things and let's go."

He paused and you could see the inner turmoil in his eyes, like there was more he wished he could say. You made no move to get up, as you stared blankly up at him, not truly seeing him standing in front of you.

"Look," he scratched the back of his head, "I won't say anything. I don't know the whole story of what's happened here and what I do know is safe with me. But we need to head back to the main office. A few other agencies have requested someone with abilities like yours and since we're now done here, we need to head out."

You nodded weakly, as explosion after explosion went off behind your eyes. Trying to blink them away, it was no use as they only continued to plague your thoughts. Your feet dragged behind you as you picked up what little you had left in the office you'd been using. The entire building was far too quiet and left you with an even deeper feeling of unease as you followed after Joe.

Where you really just going to leave? Was all of this really happening right now? Or were you going to wake up and find that this entire experience had just been a bad dream. Closing your eyes tightly you wished for the second option, but you knew that would have been too good to be true.

Joe nudged for you to move, waiting by the open door of the taxi. Staring at the car, you stood on the sidewalk, were you really leaving right now? Katsuki had told you he didn't want to see you. But could you leave with the knowledge of what was going to happen? Katsuki didn't listen to a word you had said and Fujimoto, well you weren't sure if he grasped the severity of this situation.

Damnit. Damn him. Why did he have to be so fucking stubborn? Why couldn't he have given you the chance to explain? Why were you put in this situation to begin with? Maybe if you were smarter? Maybe if you planned better? Maybe if you would have just kept to yourself and left him alone, maybe if you had been strong enough to save Seth... well, than maybe none of this would have ever happened.

No, you couldn't think like that. There had to be something you could do. There had to be something...

Joe cleared his throat as you continued to stand there, waiting for you to get into the taxi. Glancing up at him, you held his gaze for a moment and in that split second he could see you wouldn't be getting in.

Grabbing your arm, he gave you a warning look, "If you walk away right now, your career with Orion is guaranteed to come to an end."

"I can't just stand by and do nothing," you uttered with determination. Pulling your arm from him, you took off down the road.

"You're not on the case anymore, you're breaking protocol," he called after you, hoping you'd change your mind. But there wasn't anything he could have said to get you in that car.

"Fuck protocol!" You yelled, propelling yourself forward without so much as a glance behind you.

Running as fast as you could, you knew there was no way you'd make it in time. There had to be a cab or even an Uber around, right? Why didn't you just take Joe's car? This was no time to hesitate, you needed something quick. And by some saving grace you saw a bright color come into view. With a whistle and a vigorous wave of your arm the taxi came to a stop by your side. Quickly ripping open the drivers side you found a startled taxi driver.
