"Yes, I like magic and eating too," Cassi says happily. If Lucia is like a golden retriever then Cassi is like a Pekingese. It is kind of ironic that Annette, who was not a dog person in her previous life, would socialize with two dog-like people.
"I could help you, I know some great magic books for beginners in our library and I can teach you a little before you start your magic lessons," Cassi says hoping that she would say yes. There are thousands of books each ordered in different sections and in alphabetical order from both author and the name of the book. Cassi drags Annette along into the middle of the library where the M section was and goes towards the magic category of the M section. There were four big bookcases each with 20 shelves that were two meters long. All of them holding books about magic. "Annette, go and sit down at the table and I will get you those books."
Cassi says proudly. "Are you going to be alright, you might fall if they are too high up," Annette asks as it would be troublesome if she got hurt, young noble children would not normally go get books for their servant personally. It is not even something the adults do. "Of Course I can, I know you say that because I am your master but it is my motto to treat all of my servants well, especially my future aide. I will not act like the other nobles who treat them poorly." She states and Annette has no choice to let her do what she wants. If she falls then I will catch her is the thought that goes through her mind. So she sits at the table and watches her like a hawk. Cassi takes one of the long ladders and climbs up. First, she takes out a thin book that looks very new. Then she climbs higher and takes out a thicker book that looks like it's a few years old. Then she climbs up to the. highest shelf and takes out a thick book that looks like it is hundreds of years old. Then she drops all the books and slips. She starts to fall down and she closes her eyes waiting for impact.
Annette, who was preparing for this, ran towards her and ran up the ladder. Then when she caught her she did a backflip with her in her embrace and jumped down.
She landed on her feet and then carried her over to a chair to sit on.
"Are you okay?" Annette asks her, not noticing that she actually was a little worried for her. It is said that people open up to others more easily if that person reminds them of someone close to their heart that they miss. So while the resemblance between Lycia and Cassi is less than two percent it is still enough for Annette to start to worry about her. "...Thank you for saving me," Cassi says while trying to calm herself down. And once she did her eyes started to glow. "You are so awesome, catching me like that. I am sure that I will rely on your strength a lot in the future." She says excitedly like she is starstruck.
"This much is something everyone can do with a little training." Annette stats.
"It does not change that you saved me and that I found it cool." She answers.
"But enough of that we were supposed to study magic, can you go get the books I dropped, I don't think I can stand yet? She says and Annette goes to get them and puts them on the table.
The titles of the books were: Mana circulations for beginners by R.Lycius, The magic study made simple by V.Vaviansa, and All things magic for idiots by Q.Riaristine. All the titles are a mouthful but it was to be expected.
"These are the books I read when I started learning two years ago. I recommend you read Mana circulations for beginners first as it is about how to control your mana when casting spells. It was also the first thing I learned. My teacher was really stubborn about it. I could not read or do anything about magic until I perfected this.
After that, I would recommend reading All things magic for idiots. It has a simple explanation about all the different types of magic and the theory behind it. Then the last one is about how to do low-level spell casting that is easy to do and even explains all the professions that involve magic." She tells Annette and nods in understanding.
Annette takes the thickest book and starts reading it. When she encounters something she does not understand she asks Cassi about it and they get a little bit closer. After five hours has gone Annette has read all the books and now they were thinking about testing out some mana control.
"Remember to close your eyes and try to imagine that there is something like warm air flowing inside your body. And once you find it then you will try to find where it is most concentrated and mone it just likes your heart does with your blood and make it circulate through your body and if you can make it move towards your fingertips."
Casssi says as she guides her. It did not take until half an hour until she could feel the air-like energy inside her and it took another 20 minutes until she found where it was most concentrated, which was in her forehead. But once she found it she could easily move some of it towards her fingertips. Once she did this she opened her eyes and saw her hands glowing dark purple. It almost looked like mist.
"You did it, while it took you longer than what I have seen when they found their mana flow and core. I have never seen someone being able to move it to their fingertips on their first try. You are amazing" Cassi says happily.
"... I see, but how do I stop?" Annette asks.
"Oh, there are two ways to stop it, one is to cast a spell the other is to move it back into your core." She answers and Annette nods. She moved it and then her hands stopped to glow. "It is really interesting, my teacher said that the color of your mana depends on a person's heart, mine is light blue because apparently, I have a noble heart the same as my father. Mother's color on the other hand is orange as she is compassionate yet controlling. But I have no idea what yours mean." Cassi says but before Annette could answer a maid calls them and says it is time to say goodbye.
