Dear Annette.

I hope everything is going well. I know that you will soon come back. But I also know once you are back there will only be a month left before you take the exam. Knowing you I am sure that you will pass and become a state researcher. When that happens I know that dad will sponsor you and you will gain a noble title. He even let you extend your vacation because you wanted to study. I am going to be happy for you when you pass, but I can not help but feel that it will be very lonely without you. You might feel that I am being very pretentious. After all, I am your master, and you my servant. No matter how much I tried to become friends with you I know now that our stats differences made it impossible. You are after all someone who dont mix work with your personal life.

That is to say once you are no longer an employee under my family i hope that you will except my invite to become friends.  Besides i have decided to take the test to but instead of a researcher i have been interested to work in the treasury department. But before that i have decided to meet you during your vacation. Once you get this letter i would have already left and will meet you in about 2 to 3 days.

Reading the letter she can not help but to wonder how she managed to send the letter to the right address. After all she is temporarily living under someone else's roof. And she have not told anyone back at home about it. But soon she realizes that it is the work of the grand duke. After all he is someone who has eyes and ears all over the kingdom. So small information like this would not be hard to get. If she did not know better she would think that he is planning to usurp the king with all the information he has on every noble and the royal family. She bet if she was to ask him what the king ate for breakfast this exact date but 10 years ago he would have it. But as he willingly married out of the royal family everyone knows that he has no intent with removing his brother from the throne. Those working for him knows that more then anyone. 

Most say that he gave up on the throne because he loves his brother more then political power. She know better. She can bet that the true reason is that he just find that being king is to much work and that it is to restrictive. A king will always have to think about others. Even a tyrant king cant do everything we want with complete freedom. After all he still needs allies to keep him on the throne. A ruler can never completely rule alone. That is why someone like Zack will never want to become king. He is a free spirit who likes to mess with people. That is something he can only do in his current position. If he was king, he could not do it. Unless he want the eerie of the whole kingdom. If his class is less then an archduke then he would have to think about who he cant offend. So being an arch duke with a good relationship to the royal family. Suits his needs just fine. 

But reading about Cassis soon arrival she dont know what to think. After all she dont dislike the girl. In fact if she was not her employer she might even consider being her friend. But even so, she knows that it is unlikely to happen. Because in that hypothetical setting they would be of equal status. Knowing her self she would never have bothered talking with her. After all as a former mercenary she never had any true friends. All she has was her family and her family's subordinates. Those she was closest to would be considered comrades, but they where still people under her. Besides that, the only women in her life was her mother and sister. Not to say that there weren't other women under their mercenary corps. But besides of mission related thing she would never speak with them. Her sister would, but not her. So that means that she has no clue on how to make friends or hang out with them. Especially when it comes to those of the same gander that dont have a similar background to hers. That is if she even bothered to make any friends. To her her family was enough, so she never thought of it. Not even when she reincarnated here. That is until now, reading this letter.

After all she is no longer the same girl she was in her past life. The only one she has is her sister who has separated from her and dont even remember her. Besides that she has no one she considers close. But now saying that she is close to her sister is something she use loosely. After all she dont even remember her and she cant go and see her whenever she wants. So the closet person she has is actually Cassi, even though she is just her employee. Then there is Clyde, but that is just someone she finds interesting. They can not even be called acquaintances. That would imply that they kind of know each other. Although they are not strangers, calling him an acquaintance would be wrong to. So making a friend should be something she should consider. She is human after all and they need some social interaction. Besides that having reliable connections is something that is very useful. Especially if she pass the exam. You cant just really on your skill. Also having a good network is also important or else someone can easily screw you over. Even if you are one in a million genius. 

With that she puts the letter aside and as she notices the time she asks a servant if Clyde and Loyd are back yet. After all it is very late and in the previous days they would be home long ago. The servant shakes her head. Knowing that those 2 are capture targets and very capable she is not to worried. So she decides to sleep after she has eaten and cleaned herself. If they are not back tomorrow evening she will look for them. After all she owes Clyde for letting her stay here. So it would be ungrateful of her not to look for them. They could be in danger after all.
