Now both Clyde and Annette have gone through multiple matches and now they face each other in the semi finals. They are now competing for second and third place and by winning they can go to the final to determine who gets first place. Clyde might have defeated her in the sword tournament but now that she can also use magic there is a chance that she can win. No, she is very confident she will. Although the battle will be hard at the end of the day she has already experienced fighting him before. So unless he was holding back she had already determined his strength. Magic is her expertise so it is clearly much more powerful than her swordplay and according to what she knows of the ootome game Clyde is not well versed with magic and that should still be the case. After all, she might have changed many things in this world, but even her actions make it implausible to change his mana capacity, and with little mana to use the fewer spells you can use. So him being able to use magic to defeat her is highly unlikely. The 2 of them bow down and then they quickly attack each other. 

Clyde decided to make the first move and swing his sword to her left side. Annette blocks it with her sword facing downwards. Then she steps to end up behind him and strikes. He dodges and rolls away from her on the group. Then he runs towards her and continues to share blows with her. Right, left, up, down, left, right, they continue to strike each hit faster then the other. That is when Annette decided to use magic and bound his shadow so he could not move, she then used her sword to attack above him. But Clyde is not so easily defeated. He used pure willpower to move his hands to block her attack. His harms and hands shaking indicating that this task is very daunting. While he doesn't feel any pain, it is very labor intensive and he is already starting to sweat a little. But he managed to block it and the duration of the spell has ended. But because her momentum and him not being able to stand in a stable enough way because she froze him in place. He falls to the ground  and all he can do is to roll to the side so not to he stabbed by her next sword attack. He quickly get on his feet and attack her again. This time Annette decides to dodge instead and tries to distance herself from him. So at the most opportune time she dose 5 back flips distancing herself 4 meters away from him. 

Then she starts to control her own shadow splitting it to what looks like 5 long whips. They move like snakes to attack him and he blocks them with his sword. But knowing that all of these 5 shadow whips moves independent he only has a few second to block the next one, dodge the third. Dodge another one. Block, dodge, dodge,block, dodge, block, block. After 7 minuets of the same thing he finally managed to destroy one my making it hit the wall. It seems like the protective barrier of the arena nullifies her shadow magic and he noticed it as well. So he used it to his advantage and destroyed one more. That is when Annette noticed the problem to and stopped attacking him with shadow magic. Instead she started to shot icicles at him. She can do so by using water magic and freezing them with air magic by using very cold air. Not all can combine magic this flawlessly and seamlessly but it is not uncommon either. As all competent mages can do it, In fact is is required if you want to be considered a level 6 mage and above. Mage are organized in numbered ranks called numbers with level 1 being the lowest and number 15 being the highest. So her skill in combination magic is not unheard of, it is just that with her being so young it is a little surprising. Annette has not tested her mage rank yet as she will do that once she takes the royal exam but her self evaluation is that she should at least be level 8 and maybe even be level 9. But she can not truly know that once she is tested.

Clyde uses his sword skills to hit all the icicles aimed at him. Breaking them in the process, 1,2,3,4...10,23,33. There was no end in sight so he decided to make a run for it and charge. He runs forward slicing apart every icicles and finally jumps up and attack her from above. Annette Uses air magic to make a wind shield and he did not manage to land a hit. instead he flew a few steps back gliding on the soil. Annette then moved the shield to turn it into a tiny tornado and shot it right at him. There is no time to dodge so he decides to face it head on and blocks it. The air pushes hard against his sword and he slowly gilds backwards but eventually he managed to destroy the tornado but one that was done Annette was nowhere to be seen. Since the battle is not done he knows that she must be here somewhere but he dont know where exactly. So he tries to listen. Wanting to see if her can hear her movement since he cant find her with his sight her can only try to find her with his hearing. But he doesn't hear anything, so he slowly walks around to see if he can hear better somewhere else. But he did not expect that this was a mistake. Because at the moment his shadow was right behind him Annette appear as she was using shadow magic to become one with his shadow and move he is unprepared and she has created the perfect sneak attack. She strikes him and while he tried to block her as he managed to sense danger from behind him he was just one step to late and he lost the match. 

Now Clyde is placed third in the last tournament.
