The next day Annette visited Yewan and made her get used to her presence by being around and giving her different kinds of treats to see what she likes. On the first day, she was not able to get 3 meters near her as she started to act aggressively. So she decided to stay there until she calmed down, then she moved an inch closer and Yewan started to act up again. Once she calmed down she came closer again. This continued for one hour and she was finely close enough to drop an apple inside the box. Though Yewan did not calm down because she got used to Annette but because she was too tired to do so she decided to only attack when she sensed something suspicious. Although Yewan was given an apple she was too alert to eat it.

Annette took this chance to take out the water and food bowl to clean it and give her new water and a mix of hay and straw. If this was a normal box she needed to go in with the horse but this was a box that had magic enchantments. So all she needed to do was activate it with her mana. And once she did that the bowls started to fly and go through the box and landed behind Annette. She carried them away to the feed room that is 6 meters in front of Yewans box. As she cleans and changes the food and water she lets the door stay open so that she can see her. And after a while when she was turning on the hose Yewan decided to eat the apple.

This continued for the last week and the only thing that changed in that routine is the treat she gave her. The second day I was carrot, the third day it was lettuce, then plum, watermelon, mango, pear, sugar cube, celery, pineapple, and for the last day it was strawberries.

At each they Yewans challenge zone got smaller and smaller until she was able to stand right in front of the box. Now the next step was to feed her the treats from her hand. Annette selected her favorite out of all the plum treats. Of Course, she refused to do it so after waiting for 20 minutes she left without giving her any. This went by for the last 16 days. Then she finally ate it on the 17 days.

Now the next step is to put on the halter which she started to do the next day.

She used the plum to lure Yewan and secretly put on the halter. Of Course, she was not fooled so this step continued for four days until success

Then she put the lead on without any hassle and slowly opened the box. Luckily she was calm. Then they started to calmy go for a walk on a route she knew no one would be at as she made that request herself. The walk went brilliantly and Yewan was not stressed at all. So Annette decided to continue the walks for 20 days.

When it was time to finally get her used to being touched by her and of course she used the same trick as when she tried to put on the halter.

Annette finally succeeded to pat her on her face after one week. Then she was able to pat her back five days later. Then she was able to brush and comb her. Five days later she was able to touch and clean her hooves. One day after that she cleaned her with the hose. She was able to put on a saddle three days later. And finally, the moment she worked towards. Being able to mount her and take her for a ride. She succeeded the day before her birthday. And at that moment a phenomenon that is called a contract occurred. That is when a human and an animal form a close bond strong enough for them to unconsciously give each other a little mana and then they are bonded for life. It is an oath between different species. so it is called an oath contract. And both parties of the contract get two percent stronger.

It also means that when you form a contract summoners can call upon that animal with their magic. The so-called summoning magic.

There are other types of contracts too. One is that you need to defeat the animal and make it submit. This is called a master-servants contract.

Then the last type which for many is taboo for some but still legal is the slave contract. It is when you force the contract upon the animal with a load of mana and it is turned into a slave and will be hurt if they disobey its master. This contract offers complete servitude and the human will gain 10 percent of the animal's original strength.

There is also another thing that is different between the contracts. If someone dies with an oath contract the human or animal can choose if they want to die with them or be realized from the contract. If it is a master-servants contract then if the master dies the servant will be released from the contract the same if the master dies.

And for the last contract if the animal dies the human dont die but if the human dies the animal dies too. In Bergsteck the master-servant contract is the most common then, unfortunately, comes the slave contract as many nobles prefer this contract as they can just pay someone to capture the animal and force their mana upon them. And while doing so they bet a boost in their ability. It is estimated that in Bergsteck

around 45 percent uses the master-servant contract, and for the slave contract, it is 32 percent. And the rest is for the oath contract which is 23 percent.

Once Annette has finished her ride one of the two head maids comes to talk with Annette. "I come to inform you that you are free from any lessons tomorrow as we will celebrate your birthday then.
