Reckless Promises: Aimi and Kosuke

Start from the beginning

Shaking the vision away, you turned back toward your son. "Before I go deal with that, what do you want for dinner?"

He grabbed a drink from the fridge and made a beeline for the only way out of the kitchen, "You know I love anything you make." He was lying, of course, but he'd never tell you to your face how much he wished you would just order takeout instead.

"I guess it'll be a surprise than," you taunted as you began rummaging around the room. Poking your head around the corner you called out in the direction of both of the kids rooms, "Don't forget to pack a bag tonight, your father should be picking you up after dinner."

Your words were met with silence, but you knew they would get to it in due time. Aimi's rebellious stage only applied to you, she was always ecstatic to spend time out of the house and with her dad. You feared the day she would completely resent you for how protective you were. As of right now, she had already made it clear that she wished she'd inherited any other quirk besides yours. And to make matters worse, she was now attending the same school you taught at.

In hopes of being home more, you quit your job at Shinso's agency and found a part time job at UA. It later became full time once the kids started school and the second Aimi learned that UA had been the school Katsuki had attended, she couldn't wait to follow in his footsteps. Your relationship with her only became more strained as the years went on, almost to the point that she applied to other hero programs in an attempt to get away from you. You knew the only way to win her over would be to loosen up and give her some freedom, but with a crazed maniac after you and your kids, there was no possible way to do that right now.

The permanent silence that had found its way into your house recently didn't recede during dinner. The only sounds to be heard were utensils scratching against plates, nobody found the need to fill the void with trivial conversation. Tensions were at a constant high and it was evident that a lack of a certain individuals presence was to blame for that. The kids would never bring up the situation and you kept most of the gory details to yourself. But the fact remained, you and Aimi couldn't share a single conversation without it turning into an argument. Kosuke on the other hand had no ill feelings towards you or Aimi, but at moments like these, where it was obvious your family wasn't what it once was, well he usually kept to himself.

Dinner was over rather quickly, something that was becoming more of a norm. Aimi and Kosuke cleaned up the dishes and went back to doing whatever it was they were doing before dinner. With nothing left for you to do, you decided to head into the living room and browsed your bookcase. It had been filled to the brim with books you and Katsuki had read over the years. You picked one at random and took a spot on the couch. A few chapters into the story, you realized it was almost nine o'clock. Katsuki was usually here at eight. It was the last thing you wanted to do, but you set your book down and pulled out your phone. The line rang a few times before it was picked up.

"Where are you? It's almost nine and the kids have been waiting for you."

"I'm just held up at work, I'll be there soon." His rough voice held a tone of annoyance, like he was frustrated with whatever he was working on.

"Soon?" You scoffed, "That could mean anything when it comes to you."

"Why does it matter? You got some kind of hot date or something?" He snapped.

You rolled your eyes even though he couldn't see you through the phone. "Is that really what you think? How about you stop with your theories and actually spend time with your kids, Katsuki." Grumbling to yourself in irritation you hung up and tossed your phone to the other side of the couch.

It hadn't always been like this. Katsuki had always made it a point to make time for you and the kids. This house was once a home to a loving family, to a pair of parents that hadn't a clue how to raise a child and to two people that loved each other irrevocably and unconditionally. But as the arguments began with Aimi, they were soon followed with even worse ones with Katsuki. Before long, you two couldn't agree on a single thing and a great divide inched you both apart. He still found time for Aimi and Kosuke, but that soon changed too as his schedule was filled with work things and the duties that came with being Japan's top Pro Hero.
