Chapter 8

"Yay" he says starts eating the snack

Time passes and we all hang out on the couch making jokes which makes my son laugh which puts a smile on my face. I love seeing a smile on my son's face. As time passed I didn't realize that my dad is coming up the stairs. Time must fly when you're having fun! Literally!

"What's this, I don't remember, asking the chief reinforcements. You're any good with hose kid" my dad looking excited to see my son, but I get a little nervous!

"Grandpa Nash, I can try" he says excited to see my dad. I get up and go to my dad, I'm nervous

"Sorry dad, I have Abigail coming at three to come watch him. Until then, I have nowhere to take him or anyone to watch him" I say nervous

"Yeah, you did. Right here. Buck gave me a heads up. I already cleared it with the chief. But also remember, he's always welcome here" my dad says with a smile. Before I can say anything else, the bell rings, which means it's time for a call.

"All right, let's go, let's go!" my dad yells and everyone starts heading to the trucks. I look at my son!

"Ready buddy" I say with a smile and he nods.

I pick him up and bring him to the truck. Thankfully my dad grabbed my turnout gear. I help my son in the truck and sit next to him. My dad drives the engine with Buck is the seat next to him. Chimney behind my dad and Hen behind Buck. Me and Eddie are sitting against the wall with Chris in between us. I have my arm around Christopher for protection since these rides can get a little little bumpy sometimes and I wanna make sure he's safe!

"Theses our great see because we can talk to each other. Sometimes I wish I had a mute button for Buck" Chimney says talking about the headsets we have on that we wear every time or in the engine heading to a call. Next thing we know we hear the engine horn honk and I see that buck did it!

"Oh I'm sorry were you saying something?" Buck says and I laugh so does my son

"You have a scar on your head" Chris says

"Hey" I say to my son as it's something you really shouldn't point out to someone

"It's ok, that's very observant. I had an accident got a big rod stuck in my head, but the doctor took care of! You ever have surgery?" Chimney says

"Two times" my son says but it's not the right answer close but not the right

"actually three times" I say and use my fingers to make a three.

"well, you got me beat now I feel kinda lame" Chim says

"Because you are" Hen says which causes my son to bust out laughing, which makes all of us laugh

"Your mom tell you why we call him chimney" Hen asks not the story. I'll probably tell my son when he's older, but I can see him nodding his head no.

"No no no no" Chim says

"I'll tell you the story later" Hen says

We soon arrive at the car after a bunch of giggles and laughter. I love seeing my son happy like this he's always happy but I love hearing him laugh during the call my son stayed with my dad by the engine so he's safe. Well I worked with the others to take care of the people. You can really tell my dad loves my son. I look over at the both of them and I see my dad give my son a high five.

When we're done with the call, we make it back to the house. We end up playing a lot of fun games with my son. My dad makes grilled cheese for my son and Christopher loves when my dad makes grilled cheese because he makes it perfect. After that, the others come up with the idea of sending my son down the fire pole oh I was so nervous. I stayed at the bottom so I can catch him when he comes down. Eddie and Buck stand next to me to also help him while he and chimney are at the top and my dad is watching.
