"I just can't believe she said that to me," Steve repeated as he continued his pace back and forth across the living room. I was just sitting on the sofa, watching him with the ice cream in my hands and spoon stuck into it.
I couldn't really do much at this point but to let out acknowledging hums. This is probably the fourth time that he's brought this up since we came in here. He's just going in circles. Around and around and around...
Silently, I just grabbed the spoon and scooped up a bit of ice cream, fully expecting to be eating it myself but instead Steve took the spoon from my hand and ate it himself, tossing himself down onto the armchair just to the side of the sofa I was sitting on.
Dick.
"Seriously, 'fake in-love'? Who says that to someone?!" he exhaled an annoyed grumble as I just stood up and moved to the kitchen, grabbing another spoon before returning to the sofa, "and to my face? Seriously? What's the deal with her? Seriously—I get it, she's going through a hard time right now, what with Barbara and her parents but come on..."
"I'm sure she didn't mean it," I decided to finally reply now that he was sitting and scooped up a bit of ice cream, managing to successfully eat it myself without it being stolen, "she's just stressed."
"Yeah. Sure. But that's the thing," he stared forward with a sigh, "her face... there wasn't even a hint of a lie in it... she was being honest. I just wish that she could be honest with me while sober."
I glanced over at him with a sigh as well, "well... I don't know, dude. Just... tomorrow, be calm and talk to her. You guys need to get this straightened out. If you end up breaking up then at least do it on good terms and not whatever... this... is."
I gestured at him just as he took in another mouthful of ice cream, freezing slightly in my motion before glaring at me.
"This," he gestured to himself, "is perfect on its own."
"It's pathetic," I told him with the roll of my eyes before standing, "uh—it's late now so..."
"It's barely—oh shit," his gaze caught the clock, "how is it already 4am?"
"You've been pacing for three hours," I told him, "I stopped engaging after like one."
"Oh," he frowned before awkwardly looking at me in silence.
"Fucks sake, sleep on the sofa but don't go snooping," I waved his awkward silence off as I moved to the kitchen and tossed the spoon into the sink, "I'm going to bed. We still have class at 9am."
"Thanks," he called after me as I started up the stairs to my room.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever," I called back before throwing myself into my room and shutting the door after me.
After shrugging off my jacket and my boots, I just tossed myself into bed and curled up, not even bothering to change.
God am I exhausted.

A few hours later_I walked downstairs to find that Steve was in the kitchen with a glass of water.
Honestly, I'd forgotten he was there, so I was a little startled to see him there. Thankfully, he hadn't noticed that, or he would've definitely been a dick about it. I am surprised to find that he is... still here though. I mean—I fully expected him to wake up and leave? Guess not.
"Morning," he greeted me once he'd noticed me.
"... morning," I shot back as I reached for an apple, my helmet that I'd left on the counter yesterday after school, Mum would've nagged the hell out of me if she was here to see that.
