"Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god!" I shouted as everyone kept screaming.
"Shit!" Dustin's voice cracked horrendously as he slammed his hand against any and all buttons on the wall.
"We're going down! We're going down!" Steve stated the fucking obvious, and Robin kept Erica as close to her as she possibly could while we were jostled and knocked about as the, now very established, lift(/elevator) continued to plummet at impossible speeds.
Back home in England as a kid we used to joke that when we went down a hill and we got that funny feeling in our stomachs that we'd lost our stomach in the drop, and we'd collect it on our way back up hill on our way home. Well, if this was real then I lost my stomach, liver, kidneys, lungs, heart and brain to this shit, it was plummeting just that fast.
"Yeah! No shit, Harrington!" Robin shouted at him.
"What do we do?!" I shouted as I grabbed onto one of the shelves beside me in hopes to keep myself stable again since the wall was just not doing shit right now for me.
"Get the buttons to work! Why don't these buttons work?!" Dustin shouted.
"Just press the button!" Erica shouted as she pushed Dustin out of the way to get to the panel.
"What do you think I'm doing?!" he shouted back at her.
"Come on! Press something!" Steve shouted, "press it! Press the button!"
"Come on!" I shouted.
"Push it!" Erica shouted as well before suddenly it all came to a stop, throwing us all over the place rather harshly.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow," I groaned as I rolled over onto my side after fully just dropping against my will down on my back and losing my breath a little bit. That hurt. Is this why they tell you not to jump in a lift(/elevator), the drop will hurt?
"My groin—! It fell on my groin!" Steve complained from wherever the fuck he and apparently a box had fallen.
Robin seemed to smack her head off one of the storage racks and so she was complaining about that but the two kids seemed ok so that was a bonus. Just us older folk—whoa, I sounded like my grandfather. Let's... let's not do that again. That was... weird...
"Ow," I groaned again as I slowly pushed myself up, "my back—!"
"Dustin!" Steve bellowed, "get this off of me!"
Next thing I see is Dustin slamming a box down on the table and Steve just reviving from the corner I didn't know he'd been crushed within.
"Is everyone ok?" Robin asked.
"Yeah! I'm great now that I know that Russians can't design elevators(/lifts)!" Steve shouted.
"Inside voices, oh my lord," I waved at him weakly, "and, I think so. My back just... ow. Someone give me a hand?"
I put my hands out and Steve and Dustin both grabbed one before pulling me to my feet again.
"Ough, it's worse standing," I winced before attempting to rub away the pain in my back, "fuck."
I still hurt from Billy slamming me into a wall last year, this isn't helping.
Ow.
Seriously.
Ow.
Steve quickly moved to the panel angrily and threw the hatch open to attempt to get the buttons to do something again before Robin stepped around the table and told him, "I think we've clearly established that those buttons don't work."
