"Oh, also," Steve stopped me as we all stood in front of the shelter, I looked over at him curiously.

"It's face opens up," he told me as if it was a surprising fact to him as well, like the shocking piece of information bestowed upon me by him was an ever so simple fact. A normal fact.

"What... what do you mean like, big mouth?" I asked.

"Like venus flytrap but four sections instead of two," Dustin chimed in.

"Oh... So creepy then," I muttered.

The two let out low 'yeah's at that and we just went silent and listened.

For what? I have no idea.

We were just listening for anything. Anything at all. A slight shuffle, shallow breaths, growls. Anything.

"I don't hear shit," Steve stated as I crouched down in front of the doors and pressed my ear up against it.

"Yeah. I... I don't hear anything either," I looked up at them, straightening up again before standing.

"Well, he's in there," Dustin shot back.

Steve and I shared a look before he passed me his torch(/flashlight), I held it, light pointing at the doors as Steve knocked the end of the nailed bat against them lightly but still heavy enough that it could've been heard. Nothing happened, I shared a look with Dustin and gave him a shrug before looking back just as Steve slammed the bat against it a little harder.

"Alright. Listen here, kid, I swear if this is some sort of Halloween prank—" Steve turned to him as I turned the torch(/flashlight) onto him, "—you're dead. Alright? Back me up here, y/n?"

"Oh. Yeah, so dead," I nodded, "I still have wet hair because of you."

"It's not a prank," Dustin shot back at us, "get that light out of my face."

"Well," I trailed for a moment, lowering the light.

"You got a key for this thing then?" Steve asked, "you know, rather than standing around and expecting to be able to deal with this monster from outside of the shelter?"

"Yeah... yeah, give me a second," Dustin sighed as he turned around and headed back into the house again.

Steve and I just waited for him.

"You really think this is a problem?" I asked, "doesn't seem like a problem."

"May not, but doesn't mean that it isn't," he shrugged, "for all we know that bastard from that night is in this shelter."

"Too small," I reminded him, "also, pretty sure we killed that one."

"Good point," he nodded, "maybe... it's like, I don't know, a baby version of it?"

"That... could be a plausible explanation," I nodded, "huh. Who knew?"

"Who knew what?"

"That you had a brain in there, Steven," I answered. He went to reply but Dustin returning cut him off and he just glared before snatching the key from the kid's hand.

"Give me that," he muttered before crouching just as I had moments before and unlocked the padlock on the doors, dragging the chains out from around the handles, and then opened them up, "light?"

I pointed the light down the stairs and we all just inspected the seemingly perfectly ok space.

"He must be further in," Dustin suggested.

"Must be..." I trailed before shoving the torch(/flashlight) into Steve's hands and starting, very slowly, down the stairs.

"I guess... I'll stay up here... you know, just in case he tries... to escape," I heard Dustin say, I glanced back to see Steve staring up at him with pure disbelief on his face.
