"She'll be there," he shouted back far too determined to be actually hearing me at all. One track mind in this one, I swear, "later. Thanks for breakfast."

"I didn't..." I muttered as he drove off of the drive, "I didn't even give you permission to make that."

Staring on for a moment, I sighed before turning and going back into the house, "whatever. He better not come back crying to me when he realises that she's not there. Fool."

Glancing around the house, I noticed that it was still a bit of a mess and sighed.

First dishes, then cleaning the house, then shower, and then homework... eh, that can wait until tomorrow.

"Ok..."

Hours later_
Early evening_

As I was drying my hair off, I heard the phone ringing wildly and sighed before hurrying down the stairs, scrunching my hair with the towel as I moved until I stopped at the phone, towel now around my shoulders as I answered it.

It'd taken me a lot longer to clean the house than I thought it would, I suddenly feel really bad for my Mum whenever she's complaining about the dirty house because I've lived the cleaning now, I'll definitely be more mindful from now on.

"He—"

"Remember what I said last night? About the monsters?"

"Steven? What?" I frowned, "what's going on? You literally just left like an hour ago."

"Can you come down to Dustin's house please?"

"... why?"

"The monster... wasn't a once in a lifetime fight..."

"You're fucking with me. Again?"

"Again."

"Give me ten minutes."

"Right."

Ten minutes later_

"Again?!" I shouted, alerting the two idiots to my presence as I climbed off of my bike and walked over to where they were standing together, Steve holding that damned nailed bat and Dustin looking like he was ready to go on some kind of secret mission with a headset attached to his radio strapped to his hip.

It was dark now, guess that's when happens with the winter, evening comes around faster but I didn't expect it to be that dark. Should've changed my visor before coming out. Couldn't see for shit out of it.

"Yeah... again," Steve sighed as I marched up towards them and stopped next to them.

"Where is this fucker?" I pulled the machete I'd pulled out of my Dad's hunting gear out from it's place secured in a sheath attached to my back.

"Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa! Where the hell did you get that from?!" Dustin exclaimed as I swung it around and then glared forward.

"It's my Dad's. When we first moved here, to get in with the business crowd, he did a bunch of hunting. Not so much anymore though, that means all of this stuff just kind of sits around," I answered, "now. Where's the fucking monster? We're not doing this again, let's kill it now, and go get a coffee or something—if anywhere is actually still open right now still."

"Alright, leather girl, let's stop swinging the machete around and be calm," Steve put his hands up and I just adjusted my jacket with a small huff before looking between the two. I was calm. The calmest I've been in a while, actually.

"Alright. C'mon. Fess up, what are we dealing with here?" I asked.

"Dart," Dustin replied.

"Dart?" I repeated, "what the fuck? We're here for a game?"

"No. That's just what I called him," the kid replied, "he's... some kind of... thing. Apparently, Will said he saw things like him in the upside down..."

"You mean the demon place that your friend was literally kidnapped into? And my friend was literally murdered in? What the hell?! Why were you keeping that thing?" I stared, "you should've reported it or killed it on sight!"

"I didn't know! And then he ate my cat and... well..." he sighed, "we need to do something."

"You're insane, I can't believe you—ok," I sighed, massaging a growing headache, "ok. Ok. Let's think up a plan or something here, we've gotta be smart. Make sure it doesn't get out. Where is it?"

"Locked up... down there," he pointed to the storm shelter to our side, "I managed to get him in there earlier today but... he's big."

"How big are we talking here?" I asked cautiously.

"Let's put it this way," Steve looked at me, using his hands a measuring scale, "apparently, it went from this big to... this big."

"In a month? Insane—"

"In a couple of days," he corrected, tone filled with understandable dread.

"What?!" I whipped back around to Dustin again, "what the hell were you thinking?!"

"I got it! I was wrong! Fuck—" Dustin exclaimed, "can we just deal with this please? Before he eats something—or someone—else?!"

"Yeah," I nodded, "that's a good idea. Bloody hell."

Ok so, unlike you guys who are still in S2 right now, the writing position is all the way into S3 and the way it's going it's kind of developing in a bit of a way towards Steve and I can't decide how I want that relationship to develop so thought I'd just open it up to anyone who wants to have a chime in on this:

Platonic Steve and y/n

Or

Romantic Steve and y/n

I can keep this as a weird friendship thing they've got going or I could push it over the very thin line it's walking into a more romantic thing. I can't decide and if no one wants to chime in, I'll flip a coin and go from there lmao.
