They just stared at me in a bit of a tense silence as I looked up to Steve and held my hand out to him, he passed me the torch(/flashlight) without even a bit of hesitation.

"Tell me now, is someone else coming down?" I asked.

"Yeah," Steve nodded.

"Fine," Lucas was clearly reluctant but agreed.

"This is insane but, if it's only fifteen..." Dustin muttered.

"You're all crazy," Max muttered before she sat down next to me, "I'm going with you."

"Smart," I smiled before looking back to the rest of them, "once we hit the bottom, I'll point the light up for you, so you know where you want to skid. Careful now."

Grabbing Max, I kept her tightly into my side before pushing us down off the edge and skidding to the bottom, barely having enough time with the limited light to avoid slamming into a tree about halfway down. Once we hit the bottom, we dusted ourselves down before I pointed the light up again.

"Alright! Come on down!" I called up to them.

A few minutes later, we were all together again and beginning the hike through the forest towards the lab again.

"You're kind of cool, y/n," Max commented as we walked, "when did you learn to do that?"

"I used to do it all the time in the forest of dean when I still lived in England," I answered, "we did a lot of weird things back then. Since coming to America, though, up until last year the craziest thing I did was learn how to ride a motorbike and drink until I saw dots. Last year had me fighting a monster and this year has me fighting them all over again. I'm starting to think I may actually be a bit disappointed if this doesn't happen again next year."

Steve scoffed, "you were saying the opposite literally twenty minutes or something ago."

"Opinions can change," I shot back.

After that, we walked for a while in silence before we heard shouts a little ways ahead of us.

"Who's there?!"

"Hold on—that voice... it's familiar," I glanced back to Steve who nodded with a look of recognition across his face as well.

"Who's there?!" the voice shouted again.

"Is that Byers?" I asked just before we broke through the treeline to find it was not only Jonathan Byers but also Nancy.

"Steve? Y/n?" they both asked in almost perfect, absolutely shocked unison.

"Yeah. That's my name..." I trailed awkwardly, "where the hell have you been?"

"Well, what are you doing here?" Nancy shot back at us as we all met in the middle of the space between us.

"Right back are you," Steve shot back.

"We're looking for Mike and Will," Nancy answered.

"They're not in there... are they..?" Dustin asked warily.

"We're not sure," she replied.

"Why?" Jonathan asked.

"Oh you are not going to believe the night we've had," I sighed before pointing to the lab, "and it's ended up... in there..."

"What has?" he asked just before the loud screech-like roar tore through the area again and we all glanced towards it.

"That," was all I said before looking back at them.

"Explain," Nancy told me.

"Oh—where do you want me to start?" I sighed, "there are now small versions of the thing we fought last year... uh—there are multiple of them, and they almost killed us but! On the bright side, they didn't. On the... dark side, they only didn't because something else called to them. Something... in there."
