The Guide to CIS Droids

Originally used by the Commerce Guild to find and unearth rebelling miners underground and enforce taxes on civilians, the Dwarf Spider Droid was a droid that was manufactured by Baktoid Armor Workshop. With a domed center with the processor and four extending limbs that were suited for difficult terrain, they could travel on walls and ceilings. A large cannon mounted on the main body was capable of anti-personnel rapid-fire, or slower yet higher explosive and penetration power that could destroy light vehicles. They had two infrared photoreceptors with two smaller red photoreceptors, and an antennae that extended vertically at the forehead allowed them to see in complete darkness. They were incapable of turning their head fast, making the DSD1's aim inferior to fast mobile targets. They could climb and walk on vertical surfaces and rough terrain. Some models were modulated to walk underwater.

They possessed basic emotions and a binary-like language. They had the intelligence of a small domestic animal, and had a perception of what was beneficial or harmful. They also served as scouts to Homing Spider Droids, and also had a self-destruct sequence. Excluding its antennae, they stood 1.98m (6ft 6in) tall and 3.05m (10ft 0.07in) wide.

They weighed 337 kilograms (742.958 pounds).

Alongside OG-9 Homing Spider Droids (#24), Dwarf Spider Droids fought against the Republic military force that threatened the Geonosian droid factory, a battle that started the Clone Wars. These units were destroyed during the battle, and the Republic took control of the factories.
