Designed and created by Pollux Poi, these assassin droids were originally created to attack the Gejalli Hutt Clan, by the command of the Shell Hutts. The Gejalli retaliated by sending Dashade Shadow Hunters after him. Poi fled to Kashyyyk where his assassin droids protected him. Eventually dying to natural causes not long after the Great Sith War, the surviving assassin droids acquired a Rakatan technology piece which they used to enhance themselves. They then travelled to the Gree Enclave. Count Dooku travelled to the Gree Enclave and saw use in them for the Clone Wars, and thus bought them.
They could be equipped with a variety of weapons, such as hand-held blasters, flamethrowers, sonic detonate launchers, hard-sound guns, vibroblades, retractible finger blades, fletchettes, and hand-held tractor beam projectors. All models came with a shoulder blaster and a blaster attached to the underside of each arm. They had silver armour and four red photoreceptors, with the top two stretching to the sides of their head.
During the Battle of Jabiim, a group of A-Series Assassin Droids were dispatched by Count Dooku to serve alongside the Nimbus Commandos. Some were encountered by Anakin Skywalker and destroyed. Others survived the war and still served alongside the Nimbus Commandos long after the war, around the time of the New Republic.
