This Separatist droid was an anti-vehicle walker designed by Baktoid Armour Workshop and sold to the Commerce Guild.
They consisted of a sphere-like body, with four all-terrain legs, standing 7.32m (24ft) tall. Their legs helped them reach speeds of 50-90kph (31-56mph) The armoured sphere housed a highly explosive reactor. On the upper half it had one main red photoreceptor and two secondary red photoreceptors. Sensory equipment was added to keep track of moving targets.
Their main weapon was a homing laser beam projector atop the body, capable of penetrating shields and cutting down infantry, although they were limited to how much power they could use. Homing Spider Droids were also equipped with a laser cannon for anti-personnel on it's lower half, and a retractable ion cannon for disabling vehicles. Armaments could be added on weapon mounts it had.
Usually, they received transmissions directly from a central command centre, and did not exhibit any personalities or long-term memory. They was usually assisted by Dwarf Spider Droids, often acting as scouts.
OG-9 Homing Spider Droids saw use during the First Battle of Geonosis. Using their homing lasers, they scythed down Republic troops and destroyed LAAT/i's and AT-TEs.
They costed 70,000 credits apiece to build.
